Default New and want to learn

    Hello,

I am new to this, very new but excuse me I am trying to understand a bit about lasers, searched a bit and I found this website.

I'm interested to know what is required to make laser shows outdoors for concerts, what equipment is needed to make something in a football stadium and if there are any people here who have done such things.

Is it a big thing to make a show in a stadium?

    Thanks

    Roxana

Greetings and salutations! Welcome to the forum. Be forewarned; we don't get too many ladies around here and... you can tell by the posts.

To get straight to your question; yes, it is a BIG thing to do a laser show in a stadium. Hopefully someone who has done it can share more.

    Hi laser girl and welcome

To make a big show essentially is the same as making a show in a small venue except you need more power in your lasers - just like the PA would need to be bigger in a stadium than a small club. The shows are created using software - of which there are many different flavours of differing quality and features. The software controls a Digital to anaogue converter that controls the laser galvanometers which provide 2 axes of movement. The laser beam is bounced off the mirrors on the galvanometers (or scanners) and the beam moves in the air. All this is the same for a small venue as a large venue the only real difference being the size of the laser. In a big open air venue you would need many watts of laser power to have a real impact otherwise it would just look very poor.

    Hi Lasergirl
    Welcome to PL.

Software is what is used to create the show and play it back. Such as the Pangolin LaseShow Designer. See the Pangolin website for more details.
There are quite a few laser show design programs but most would agree that you cannot beat what Pangolin offer.

You dont HAVE to use software - but its so much easier to make predicatble repeatable effects with software. CarlB for example controls a pair of green projectors using a Camtech PM25 desk. This has built in frames (a file containg laser content) that can be selected to go to the outputs. The user can then manipulate the frames in real time by applying effects. This was a pretty standard way of doing stuff until recently when software solutions became much more sophisticated and within the reach of more people.
