You will need a dongle to run this software, I think it will cost about 350 euro if I remember well.

The simulation of the DXM lights and especially the lasers looks just stunning! There is almost no need for a demo room.

For big show designers this is ultimate, you can now really show your customers how the lasershow will look in real live. you can fly trough the stage and watch the lasers

So let me understand: this LD quickshow will make LivePro obsolete?

No, not exactly. LivePRO does what LivePRO does, and there is no other program that works like LivePRO. Because of LivePRO's track-based architecture, there are things we can do, control-wise, (for example with DMX and MIDI) that can't be done with any other program, including the latest QuickShiow.

QuickShow doesn't have any tracks. It has something new, that we call "Trackless-tracks". This is good for some things, but not for others.

So I think for the most avid live laser show designers, LivePRO will be the preferred product for years to come.

Cause i was intentioned to buy Livepro, but seems something better is coming out and downloadable for free.

QuickShow will be free, but we are positioning this as easy-to-use software. For example, LD2000 is the program most used by true laser professionals. But it can't be learned extremely quickly. Normally you will need to spend some time to learn it, and it is quite likely that you would never completely learn every single function, even if you spent every day of your life using it. BUT, on the flip side, more ILDA artistic awards were won by people who use LD2000 than all other software programs combined!

We are positioning QuickShow on the other end of the spectrum. We believe it is very easy to use, and that it is possible to at least learn all of the functions after spending a single day -- perhaps less.

So our push with QuickShow is to make easy-to-use software, that has an emphasis on quickness. Everything that can be done with QuickShow can be done extremely quickly, and generally very easily.

At the Pangolin User Meeting, one thing I spoke about was the concept of a "toolbox". At Pangolin, we offer you a number of tools for different jobs. For example, you use a screw driver to drive and remove screws, and a hammer to drive and remove nails. Sure, you can pound in a nail using a pair of pliers and drive screws using a butter knife. I am sure we've all done it. But these are not the right tools for those jobs. At Pangolin, we have a lot of different tools for a lot of different jobs. Some of the tools are including those strange plumber wrenches can can reach back around long pipes in bathroom sinks. The right tool makes the job easier and less stressful. We think this is better than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Bill did mention that the Pangolin server had received some unwanted attention from a hacker last week ... and they are in the process of moving it to another server

Yes, we have had the main server for quite a long time, so it has all old versions of Linux, PLESK, etc. which apparently have some holes. We are moving server locations and updating to the latest hardware and software. We'll have plenty of hard disk space to keep the shows for the portal.

While I was away, I see that several of the domains on the Pangolin server have been hacked. I'll have to fix them today, and then see how quickly we can get them moved over to the new server. Interestingly enough, the main Pangolin and PangolinSMS domains haven't been hacked but PangolinShows has...

When can we download it?

Give us a few weeks. We're still doing tweaks to the look of the user interface. Right now it looks a bit like LivePRO, but we're going to change the style of the toolbar buttons and a few other things.

We also want to firm up the workspace we include with it (which, right now, is 1GB when loaded into your computer's memory). We'll be adding some more beam effects and such.

Hi Bill

I'm looking forward to the day you make the new LDQ software available. I like the sound of it being Quick and easy to use. You say that unlike Live Pro the new LDQ software does not use a multi track output system. Does this mean that work spaces on Live Pro will not work on LDQ? I hope this is not the case as do like the Glenn Turner work space I am playing with at the moment.

It's a bummer that those of us who bought LD2000 systems have to wait while all those FB3 owners get in first.

Why the hell did we buy expensive systems and fund Bill's all expenses paid international jaunts in the Pangolin stretched Company Hummer just for the cheapskate FB3 owners to get all the new goodies first !?!
