I was thinking using a 405nm PBS with the 473 passing straight through, and the 405 being reflected 90 degrees.
Did anyone ever try this?

I don't think so, I think the answer is to use a 405 dichro.

Hi Paul
using a dichroic is better.you don't worry about polarization problems.
reflect 405nm pass 473nm.

there is to much loss when using the pbs cube. laser wave does carry a 405 dichro though.

How much power did you lose when you tried it, Josh?
I'm guessing that you'd lose a good 20% or so, which is why a dichro would be better, but apart from the optical loss there's nothing stopping you from doing this. I'm interested in any real-world tests that have been done on this, if anyone has any data...
Adam
i personally did not try it nor would i recommend it since you can use the dichro and not lose nearly as much as you would with a cube
