    Default RGB Mixing

    Hey all,

Been into the laser hobby for a while, and decided to make a scanner.

Now, I have a LW 200mW DPSS Green, and for some reason thought the RGB ratio was 4:2:1.

Finding out that’s wrong, has made this project, more expensive.

Would 400mW of red, 200mW of Green and 100mW of blue still look all right, and produce nice colours, or did I screw up, and have to buy $3000+ of blue.

    Cheers for any help

    Dave

I have a projector with that ratio and it looks fine IMO.. Any fine tuning can be done with software, so I'd hardly think you'd need to spend more.. I'd say go with what you've got.

    Hi Dave,

    Firstly welcome on board...

Colour ratios are rarely that straight forward.

The question you ask here has been asked a hundred times before so to get going on it all I suggest you "search" the colour question here on PL... see search options here on PL.

It all depends on what "colours" you have or want to get. A very small shift can be very very different both in colour and in apparent brightness. For example say 660nm red which is a real nice rich red say compared to a 640 red also a very nice red but the 640 will look maybe twice as bright. Now your ratios are no longer that easy, if you see my point.
Green 532 is usually the easy one to sort.
Blue like red has options 405, 445,473... all with different levels of brightness.

There have been some very good threads on this very subject here. Maybe do the search and look at these and it will start to make sense.

Tocket, one of our members here has done up a chart which will give you a good guide so maybe do a search on Tocket and colour and it will come up.

If your stuck sing out the help is here alright.

Once again welcome look forward to seeing some pictures one day soon.

    Cheers

With pictures, I got some of the green laser scanning on scanpros, nothing out of this world yet , so ill wait :P

    Once again thanks.
