The build begins!

I promised some pictures of my setup so here they are. I used a 10mm al-6082 piece of aluminium that measures 300mm by 400mm. Dichro,s and suports are from laserwave and also the 500mw green.
The red is a 642nm/600mw from kvant. The powersupply(orange one) to power the lasers is a 5v/22amps powersupply from xppower.Look at this tread : http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7629

My scanner is the raytrack35+ (http://www.jmlaser.com/products_english/ueberblick.html)

I decided to use both sides of the aluminium plate to cool everything. One advantage is that you only need one enclosure instead of 2 and it safes up a lot of room The total height of my projector will be probably arround 16 cm.

If anyone can give me some advice with adding some things like colorboard or something else to turn this baby into a Professional projector that would be great!!!

Thank You for black anodizing or painting the plate black, I just hate it when folks dont take the time to do that. Very nice build!

Thanks laserman. I sprayed it first in a primer because otherwise the finishing paint won,t hold.
I used for the finishing paint a matt black heat resistance paint that is normally used for fireplaces and spraying heatpipes. I,m trying to give it a professional look.

But about the painting. I know that you can clean the oxide (is that right, oxide) from aluminum so that paint adheres better.

My question is, how does painting aluminum affect heat dissipation? Small difference, not worry about?

I absolutely agree !! Paint all the internal's black , And if you can use black Allen screws , even better. It just makes it all more professional looking !! Nice build !!

Painting it black will improve absorbtion and disipation.

With heat resistant paint though?

By its very definition, it doesn''t transmit heat very well as its used to protect areas likely to be damaged by heat. Black is one thing, but heat resistant I would have thought is another. Also, heat resistant paint is a bit of overkill isn't it as its usually designed for temperatures in the thousands whereas I would have though 70 or 80 degrees was nearer the mark in a case.

Yes, thats the one. And tonight i,m going to measure the sizes so then i know what the case wil be.

As for the overkill, my goal was to build a quality projector with the same caracteristics of a Kvant 1.6 watt. But maybe instead of adding a 445nm blue i will 500mw of 473nm i,m not sure yet. But i,m pretty sure about the color corection board. I,m waiting for one from Rob(stanwax).Hopefully within two or three weeks he has one ready for me. chose for the paint because it looks almost if it was anodizised. If where building one for a costumer i would get it anodizised of course. Also you guys probably noticed that i didn,t mount the laserwave driver directly on the aluminium baseplate. I decided to leaf it like it this because of warrenty issues and also the highed of the Kvant driver is almost the same. If there,s no problem with the waranty to mount the laserwave,s directly on the baseplate all lasers going to be in the future laserwaves. .
