I'm building a rgv in september anything I should know?

Ok hi in september I'm going to build a rgv laser with a 8x, loc and o-like green module.

I'm going to use some dichroic mirrors and optic mounts.

The heatsink will be 35mm by 35mm.

The batterys will be 2aa for each laser.

So yea anything I should know?

Will this be a handheld? MechEng3 built the first one we know of, http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...elight+pointer
I bought it and he has it now for a modification or two.

We also have, http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=6297, which is a step or 7 beyond the "first" whitelight pointer...

I dont think the projector will run for very long running off 2 x AA's per laser if you're using lab type lasers, will you be using galvo's to create graphics/beam effects etc? if you are, then they'll almost definitely need to be mains-powered

I'll proberly add some galvo's later and some better batterys, right now it's just one that emits a dot.

And there lays the problem; a handheld laser containing the diodes you mentioned would be illegal, so I would suggest that you are asking in the wrong forum.

i seriously doubt you'll be able to get lab lasers that run on batteries though?? I mean, the pump diode in a green needs to be like 2 watts IR, just to get about 100mw or so of useful green out, blues are even more inefficient i think!

I'm new here, however I'm pretty sure selling or importing such a laser could be illegal, but building one for yourself isn't.
