It's a 5W ( I think rob gets 2.5W off of single phase ) whitelight Ar/Kr gas laser. It's quite a beast, and the colour balance is really nice ( add a PCAOM to that ), you should see some of the beams , even just the pictures are amazing !

Sounds very nice. I look forwards to seeing the pictures as Surfleet is unattendable for me.

I hope to go and see it in person, it's something I've always wanted to see since finding out about it.

    Hey Al

There's a fairly good chance i'll be going down to Surfleet. As usual, I won't know until nearer the time though. It's most probable that i'll just be going on the Saturday. If you want a lift i'd be happy to take you and bring you back.

    Cheers

    Jem

Its not 5W - when the tube was new - a long time ago - it did 4W @32A and the lower power I get is not to do with it running single phase, more likely just due to it not doing a whole load since that tube fit. These days it can barely squeeze a watt but the colour balance is still nice and I will love it til one of us dies (I hope it dies first ). One of the reasons I have decided to take it to Surfleet is that I can give t a damn good run which will do it the world of good.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

    My bad

I'm guessing you've tried to align the mirrors a little bit and cleaned the brewster windows ?

That might also do it a world of good if you haven't done so already
