    Remember, 1 Pro card + 3 intro cards = 4 pro cards.

Does this make us all millionaires and Pangolin affordable? No, but it's a product that works and does it's job better than other competing products. If someone comes out with a better product for $399.00, I'll buy it! Until then, you can't beat it, Even for $1500.

Also, Don't forget you can easily spend $1500+ on many other computer devices such as a graphics card, SCSI RAID card or other specialty controllers.

I agree the PCI card thing is fairly outdated but it doesn't mean it's obsolete, yet.

BTW,,, the .NET box is a great way to work around no PCI slot issues.

How would you like spending $5K on a QM2K Pro just to have the new QM3K come out next week and they no longer support your expensive ass product? I'd think that would suck. (Although a lot of companies do this)
so now I have to spend more money on a .NET box or an external PCI enclosure to use it?

and your licence per computer analogy does not work... I do not have to buy a computer for each video card I buy... I can put 7 video cards in my computer (all that will physically fit) all on one license of windows...

I have a $500 SCSI raid card in my machine at work... but guess what? I didn't have to buy a bundled copy of Windows XP with it... same thing with my $500 video card at home, it was just a card... no software attached

thats all I want from pangolin, just an "add on" QM card... a card that cant be run by itself and must be in a computer with a card that is licensed for the software, I don't see why this is such an alien concept

If I want to run 7 pangolin cards why do I have to buy the pangolin software (even if its just intro) 7 times?

and just becuase we spent lots of money on it does not mean the QM2000 will (or even should) be around forever, I am sure a lot of people paid a lot of money for QM32's and AMIGA cards...

and yes I think its nice that Pangolin gives free updates, but honestly they have only done 5 major releases (they are at version 5) and their ridiculous attitude towards their hardware is really driving me to look for alternatives

this was said in person not on PL, and he was adamant that LivePRO is not "dead" its just "done" as far as no further development is necessary in their eyes

I think that may have something to do with Beyond.

    ah yes the magical catch-all

I'd like to point out that I like pangolin, I like bill, I have never had an issue with either that I didn't resolve or work around... except for the whole adding projectors thing...

its just frustrating that I feel like I am paying for something I am not using when you put more than one QM into a computer since each one has a license attached...

I'm just wondering how you're going to be able to afford all the projectors you 'll need to plug into all those QM's or FB3's or soundcard dacs or...

Its amazing how projectors come about - I started with 1 100mW 532 projector, which became 2 1.5W RGB's and just starting to think about a third big one, and I don't have tuppence to rub together!

    Same here..

1 1W RGB, 1 1.5W big green, 2 matching 445nm blue-only units, 1W each.. all on the tiniest budget imaginable.

what kind of BS is that? are you saying simply because "oh its expensive" I should suck it up and waste money?

thats not really the point now is it?

should windows cost $10,000 because I can connect 20 Christie projectors to my computer?

Maybe I am just insane but I have been working with computers my entire life and I have never worked with a piece of software that requires you to buy entire full copies multiple times to expand its functionality on a single computer...

oh and just to further point out how ridiculous your comment is, you can buy a 1W 445 laser and a set of 30k scanners for what, like $400?

everything has come down in price, even pangolin (FB3?)

    You're right dude -

That "ridiculous comment" was aimed at the fact that I have seen your very nice - and what looks to be - very expensive RGB projector, and I just assumed, quite ridiculously on my part, obviously, that the same effort and quality would go into subsequent builds.

Obviously not the case, and I sincerely hope you find cheap controller solutions for all your cheap follow-on projectors.
I doubt if the solution will be Pangolin, since somehow, I doubt if the comments posted in this thread will be cause for Pangolin to change their pricing or marketing structure.

If you bought a 2nd QM2000, what is to stop you from using it on a 2nd computer as a full blown system? Does it have some sort of license that ties it to a single computer?
