Yep, i've seen the hall - I took the pictures

I agree, it's not the biggest of venues, however, I put this as a first choice because of its location and close proximity to lots of decent accommodation.

yuo would have ebst idea as to wether its suitable ? it looks a good shape but a little narrow ?
It would be suitable depending on how many people were attending. I can get the hall for two days (Sat & Sun), it's mega easy access and ample parking etc. It's right on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (well worth a visit) and lots of nice countryside, so if you wanted to bring any 'other half's' there would be plenty for them to do whilst you played with lasers

Taller wider bigger with room for growth and MORE and MORE lasers is what we need , ideally more northly the better
I did mention that this is just *one* of quite a few halls around these parts. Some are *much* bigger. Obviously if we go for a bigger venue it may cost a little more, but I don't envisage the costs going much beyond £10/£12 per person.

To be honest when I was discussing this with Rob initially there was a bit of doubt about whether or not we would be able to get Leicester again. I threw this into the pot as a possible option that I was willing to organise as I did not want to risk not having a UKLEM 5. The last thing I want to happen is for there to be a competition over the venue. If Leicester is fully confirmed and people are happy with that, well, that's fine by me and i'm happy with whatever.

I can fully understand you chaps north of the border have a hell of a long way to travel. Maybe we could have a UKLEM 5.25 somewhere more northerly

Anyway, i'll leave things as they are for a couple of days to see what the majority want to do.

    Here's a few B & B's, Hotels etc nearby.

And a local campsite (may even be possible to arrange with a local farmer to use a field nearer the venue )...

    Hmm..
I am for different place than Leicester. New place is new experience + Leicester city-centre is not one of the UK beauties. Let's go to a small village with nice pub and home-made food.

Here here - you can't beat these ere rural locations for shedding some beams

I am easy but it does look a little small.

I wouldn't be happy overnight in Leicester either - I would be as worried as a barrow load of white rats in a tampon factory

Us simple 'green country' folk down't no now't bout tarmac N guns

EDIT - Rob, why have you got a picture of a rockets arse for your avatar?

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

    O.K. Guys (and Gals )

I spoke to Rob last night and it seems like the Leicester meet is on. I'll let others (Rob? ) fill in the details as I don't have further information to hand.

So, to avoid any confusion or competition i'm pulling the plug on the option I suggested. I won't delete the post as it may be that we may fancy a mini meet sometime and it will save me typing it all in again.

Thanks to those who PM'd me in support of the 'Bretton' meet, but it was never intended to be a competition. It was just a case of having somewhere to go just in case the Leicester meet didn't come off as it was looking a little flaky at one point.

    Cheers
