A good lens only projects what the Laser Diode is outputting.

In the sleds, they use orifices to eliminate fringe projections.

The lens I am using is a very high quality aspheric, and compensated for the BR diode window.

The chinese lenses are the ones, that are "homebrew".

Consistency is nonexistent in the Aixiz lenses.

Power gains may reach 50% of the Hi-Power Lens assembly.

I did previously state that if you just want the biggest power boost, your lenses are the way to go. As far as beam quality, based on my own investigations on LPF, the aixiz multi-element setup is superior. I'm just trying to make sure that the full picture is understood. Beam quality is highly important to many people, even over and above power gains. Me and my money are still waiting until someone can give us a 405nm lens with good power gains but also with excellent beam quality. It's not impossible, but so far all the 405-G-1 custom lenses and others do not cover both areas, based on direct comparison photographs. Acrylic or Aixiz 405nm glass are still the only ways to go as far as beam quality in a cheap hobbyist module IMO.
