    the "1003" resistor is not 1 ohm but 100 * 10^3, so 100Kohm

the shunt resistor is not always 1 ohm, and it is possible (and nearly sure) it has a transistor-like package and is bolted to the heatsink near the transistor

I don't think this unit has ever been powered by a 473nm power supply.. I think he just used the power supply that originally came with the laser (I could have just missed that part though). I would recommend checking the TEC though.. it is possible there's a bad connection or something like that.

I think you are refering to the Blue setup that Stanwax is rebuilding for Jem. When you get to the meet this weekend have a talk with Rob about the way he is rebuilding Jem's blue.

    No P1t8ull is right Elektrofreak.
I have an 80mW blue, which came with a LSR-PS-1 also.
In a stupid moment i connected the green to the blue supply, it burned really well... so well i broke it ;-)
Now i have replaced diode (and ofcourse use the original LSR-PS-1) and it works, but the TEC could be broken. But i feel the housing warm up, i cannot believe that the diode alone can heat this housing SO fast...
But maybe it's not working and only producing heat (i dunno if that's possible or i say something dumb now...).
If anyone knows a way to check the TEC i'd love to know.

I will bring this green to UKLEM, maybe i can ask Rob if he knows.
Or Robin, since he seems to be the expert on TECs as well...
Or someone else who might know.

Anyway, will keep you posted and will try suggestions you made.

You may find this thread useful: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=6533 - bottom of post #1

http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...2/P4302001.jpg -> this is the main picture I wanted to note but didn't want to fill up your thread with unrelated pictures...

Digikey has parts too http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...me=102-1666-ND referenced from (http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=4958 - giving credit).

Good luck having fun watching your rebuild!

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

Thanks Adam, i hope to buy some peltiers and Die4Chill from Robin and see if i can built something around it to cool my green small beauty.

If you're going to go that far, why not just get a project box and throw the die4chill and a FlexMod in there and have a custom PSU. The flexmod will drive that diode no problem and you'll have analog and TTL modulation.

Yeah Could do that, but the original Lasever works fine, and has the thermal shutoff which i like, the idea of placing it in a new box with peltiers and die4chill however i like very much.
