Laser Warning Post your cool pictures here!

They have one of these over on 4HV, and I like it because you don't have to start a new thread just to post a picture you happened to get

    I'll start:

Accidental wood burn fractals I did on my desk with a flyback transformer:

    Optical Trapping:

    Weird "Mammatus" clouds:

Found these forming over the pump outlet in my pool one day:

Long exposure (15s) of my anti-parallel ignition coils:

    Some more weird sparks:

    See the incomplete spark?

Some high up clouds, not sure what they are called at the moment:

Those high clouds in your post are called altostratus clouds, or fair weather clouds to sailors.

BTW; that storm was trying it's best to spawn tornados, they kept reaching down from all over the cloud base but quickly disipating.

Here's a couple, on the one with the tree, you might be able to see me on the left. It was a big freakin tree!

On the second one, this was from a shuttle launch several years ago, but you can see the shadow being cast by the vapor trail.

:O thats a frikkin massive tree

Silica gel in a container lined with foil, connected to a HV source, causes the silica balls to jump around between the terminals :

You can see a video of it here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5goWZiy6As0

DZ, either that tree is absolutely massive, or you are one of the munchkin men

    Andy; Nice photo

Dan, cool video. Have you tried cotton wool or poly beans? You can make it fly through the air backwards and forwards if you use enough voltage. If it aint smokin'; you aint usin' enough power Also; have you tried making a lifter?

5th largest tree in the world! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stagg_(tree) We didn't set out to find it initially. We were in some small town outside of Death Valley and someone told us about it, so we went and checked it out. Some of the branches on those trees were larger than the oak trees in my yard. Neat stuff, just wouldn't want to be around when one of them falls!

edit- here's another pic of these trees, niether are Stagg tree, these are just some babies. By the way, I'm over 6 feet tall!
