    Default Laser diode housing discussion

i currently use aixiz housing to house red diodes, these are 12mm wide and done have the greatest lens.

does anyone know of any other housing, small than 12mm and with a good lens on the front?

in an ideal world i would like something 8mm wide

    thanks

Hi andy con. Probably way off the mark, but Rob's got some fantastic housings complete with analogue drivers & plastic adjustable ar coated lenses

    Hi andy_con,

I don't know of any other housings, but you might be able to get this gentleman to machine you something http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/wt...tml#post577172
Not sure what shipping would be, but he's looking for some parts in return for machining.
    cheers

yeah ill have to check the spec of robs housings.

although the machining is a good idea, i would need the correct size lens to match and i dont sadly

alltronics has some nice brass housings

You can drop a cay046 lens straight into the housing, although the supplied lens is just as good.

Thorlabs make a very nice (expensive) lens tube.. Not really worth buying to just drop a dvd diode into

Dave I have the Thorlabs housings and lenses, very good lens (0,5mRad) but the brass housing is 1mm smaller compared to a Axis so it will not fit in a housing made for a a aixis

Yeah, we use the Thorlabs housing with the Nichias we have.

The good thing about the brass housing is they fit very snugly in these insulating tubes

These mounts also have a smaller diameter compared to a aixis mount
