Just last night I saw a Nova program on the "Black hole" in the center of our own Galaxy... interesting stuff....

I doubt we'll ever come close to the speed of light. Even if we did, or if we travelled slightly faster than the speed of light, it would hardly matter. It'd still take 4 years to travel to the closest star; 30,000 years to travel to the center of the galaxy; or 2,200,000 years to travel to the closest galaxy.

Not only that, but it would take an incredible amount of energy to get moving that fast, then you'd need to burn just as much energy to slow back down before you reach your destination. Oh, and just imagine what a grain of sand would do to your ship if you were traveling that fast!

I think you mean "super-massive black hole" at the center of the galaxy... (It's a hole that has the mass of *millions* of suns, instead of just 2.5 to 10 times the mass of our sun like a traditional black hole.)

Many astronomers now believe that the cores of most galaxys sport super-massive black holes at their centers. It's also widely believed that they are the source of what used to be termed "Quasars". (Basically very powerful radio emissions from the center of a galaxy.) Turns out that Black Holes are very efficient engines for generating electromagnetic energy.

It is very possible that there are civilizations out there that are millions of years more advanced than us and are capable of things we have not even thought of yet. I believe that if the human mind can conceive it we can make it happen. There may be energies beyond what we are able to understand right now but when we find them it will open up a whole new world to mankind, if we don`t kill ourselves first.
