Well guys, looks like I won't be making it. I'm really bummed out.
Early this morning, some drunk person crashed into the car we were intending to use to come to plasa. It totaled our car. He tried to drive away, but then he realised the axle of his right front wheel was torn off and that wheel was at an angle of 90 degrees of how it should normally be!
And now since we're not going, we lost the money we prepaid for the channel tunnel
very bad day today ...
Damn, that sucks. Can you demand compensation about the tunnel money?
I was kinda hoping for a report by now.
And some pics.
You know, battered and bruised Laserworld reps lying beneath a bunch of Pango Clad PL Warriors.![]()
Much to our surprise, Laserworld had a display of lasers that was the best at the show (8 choreographed full-colour, with a couple of strobes for good measure, all arranged in an array in a darkened booth). They were complaining that they had been required to turn down the output 'for safety reasons' - so we weren't able to find out if they were really 8W each as claimed!
Most interesting, though, was the software they were using - Phoenix V3 - looks as if this could give Mamba and Pangolin some serious competition. Mark, Andy and I were treated to a half hour demo by the software author, and the capabilities were pretty good, especially for the price - around £300 with DAC for the basic version. It's geared towards live performance and I have to say, I'm tempted. None of us were impressed with their demo projector, which clearly needed some serious galvo tuning. Nice bright white though.
Laserworld also had their booth in a prominent position on the main display floor - Medialas and Kvant were tucked away at the far end of the second hall and had smaller booths. Kvant were showing their new diode modules, which are smaller - and cheaper - than previous models; Martin was also able to give us details of the new showroom he's setting up in Hove.
Medialas, not surprisingly, were featuring Mamba 2, which was an opportunity to discuss some of the improvements I'd like to see!
We also met up with Jeroem, who showed us some nice pics of a recent show he did in Amsterdam - he's promised to post a link to the You Tube videos in due course. The lighting control software he was showing looked good too. All in all, a good day out.
Was nice to meet you guys!!

That's the event (2:17 lasers start).
Not the best part of the show, had some problems with MIDI-settings in LivePro that were gone just before I had to kick the lasers in. But, hey, touchpad of Macbook also works

just to follow on from this, laserworld had a very well laid out stall. they had a very nice multi coloured beam show going on, projectors on show for people to look at and a computer with the Phoenix on for anyone to use. they had clearly put alot of effort into their stall and if you didnt know who laserworld were you would have considered buying from them.
Eat Sleep Lase Repeat
Cause y'all played this event up; they knew y'all were going to be there.Should have kept it on the downlow and they would have been the same ole LaserWorld we have all come to know and loath...
