    I'll bring a 80W CuBr with spirograph-motors instead.

Good idea! I'll bring the coloured one from my avatar! (Don't melt it guys, I don't have another! )
Otherwise I could bring a mirror on a fan with external 12 V psu. If you bring your laserscope we can draw a circle on the clouds!

Anyway, I have two small statives here, can hold ~30-40 kg. Not that much stabile but they're good for a back-up. I think rigging things up will not be that much of a problem so I will leave them home but if they're needed just give me a shout.

A mirror ball is one one of the more safe ways of audience scanning because of the following reasons:

    1. You will never have a standing beam in the audience because the mirror ball always rotates.

    2. the divergence increases because mirror ball don't have front surface mirrors, and the distance from laser to audience can be bigger.

Now don't get me wrong and dont start shooting static beams at mirror balls because this will probably not be safe!

I could take some 40cm 5x5mm mirror balls to the lem to practice.

I always like the combo of a laser and a mirrorball. When I still used the Showtec 30mW DMX laser, I always had a preset on my desk that made the laser scan just as wide as the diameter of the mirrorball. No static beams on there (except a stray joke with a 5mW pen) and kids LOVE it!

Too bad you can only scan one side at a time, though. If you put two or three lasers on it from different angles, you can get beams spreading from the entire circumference of the ball.

Or use bounce mirrors to direct some beams to the other sides

On a festival in Groningen (Gideon Festival) we aimed 2 RGB's on a big mirrorbal hanging from a crane. The height was around 10 meters..
The effect was stunning! Like rain of light..

Mirrorball at (a little more) daylight

It's a shame I didn't take any pictures of the "enclosures" of the OPSL's. Ehr.. well.. Enclosures?
