Sound
Many of us here were raised with the false idea that whats good for music is good for speech intelligibility. Read this guys site and listen to the files.
I did sound with a late mid 1980s model in my head, one more based on physics then psycho-acoustics. I am so wrong by modern standards its not funny. Well, wrong for speech anyways. I always damp the room to death with lots of sound adsorbers, and that is just so wrong. Of course I learned to do sound in cinder block resonant chamber of a gym in high school, so I guess I can be forgiven for wanting to always shorten the reverb time and totally kill slap echos. Turns out you need some 'verb especially for speech.
The parent company of my new employer does megadollar sound systems, and I wanted to know what the heck they were talking about. I found this site, its good and has audio examples.
