Default output power difference between ilda and dmx

    hi

i have just bought my first rgb laser from meierlight

    1.7 w analog modulation

    1000mw red 650nm

    500mw green 532 nm

    200 mw blue 473 nm

    40kpps scann

    double pattern

when i first tested it in auto mode i was impressed by the power of the laser

after i have tested it with the free softare they gave me(ishow really rubish) i noticed a difference of power (less)

and the whit color was greeny

i contacted meierlight and they ment that because of analog modulation the power increases with ilda

    is this normal??

and i would like to purchase the pangolin ld2000 intro and i would like to know if the white color could be adjusted or is it automaticly better than with the rubbish software they gave me

after this i am looking for 2 green lasers to complete my setup what would you recommand?

    thanks michael

If you get a QM2000 then you can use their color pallette settings to get a "perfect" white from your projector. You can use it to train the pallette, or you can set the laser balances yourself.

its because i show is so rubbish that its messing the colour balance up. i had the same issue when using ishow. i know have pangolin fb3 and get much more power and control from my shows. also your images and beams will look so much clearer and sharper

    get pangolin it rocks

you shouldnt get more power from either as long as the dmx output is putting out 100% modulation (5v). u just get control to adjust the power levels so perfect white can be acheived

I'd imagine they meant their DMX card isn't pushing as much voltage to the laser's modulation inputs, resulting in less power output from the laser. They're saying that the external ILDA DAC is supplying full voltage to the modulation inputs resulting in more power.

As you probably already know, analog modulation works using a signal that ranges from 0V to 5V. As the signal from the DMX board or DAC increases and decreases in voltage, the laser increases and decreases in power. If either the DAC or the DMX board doesn't supplly all of the necessary 5V, the lasers will never reach full brightness.

I wouldn't buy from anywhere but Pangolin directly.

I believe Ishow only has TTL output too, probably not outputting the full 5v through it's TTL outputs.

It's crap anyway, though the DAC itself does make a good coaster.

    ok thanks for the info

no wonder the colors and drawing suck!!

my other hobby is clay shooting and the i show garbage will be usefull

just a last question with this laser i would add 2 green ones i think of 500mw 30kpps ones with dragon laser module are these ok

otherwise meierlight gave me an offer for 1000mw 40kpps and double pattern with cni but i am affraid that compare with the rgb it is to powerfull

ok i know more power more fun but with my a ctual rgb i think it's to much

    greetings from france michael
