    Some video of a truck getting targeted by "Advanced Tactical Laser", this was fired from a c130 while flying. Targeting is impressive, to say the least.

    Cool "Ray gun" fail

    It didn't do much damage; just scorched the paint! I don't see how that would have hurt the car...

    OK, if it was shot from a plane orbiting at 10,000 feet or more, then it's an impressive display of targeting, but they need to increase the laser power by many orders of magnitude if they want to truly disable that truck.

    Maybe in 30 seconds, but not for the short blast they showed in the video... Sure, it would set fire to your hair pretty quick, and probably give you a very nasty burn, but "cook your brains"? Nah... At the power level they showed in the video, it would take a lot longer than that to burn through the bone of your skull.

    Notice how small the target area was and how good the tracking was.

    Then watch the Boeing video where you find the guy was doing a offset aim, very impressive. And remember, no way this is a full power test :-)

    Ahh... Good point. In that case, I withdraw my objection. I hadn't considered that this was merely an aiming capability demonstration. If they do have gobs of reserve power, then they should be able to do some real damage.
