    Thumbs up Double Decker Design

Very nice and very compact !!! I see you went with a two (2) level design....post and beam style construct !!
....and using threaded rods to connect the levels offers future modifiabillity !! And....many projector builders will likely modify or add colors like 640nm added to 658nm ....I know I am.....640nm at 500mw ordered !!!.... I put a drawing of the special base plate I will be using to marry the 658 Maxyz to the LW 640 in my gallery pics. This is one to do it. I am waiting on 640 delivery to completely verify head dimensions.....anyway...my point is that as technology goes foward....we will be tempted to upgrade/modify.
To anyone thinking about a projector build.....think about this possibillity.

I did this to my original DT-40's, and they worked just as well without the notch filter installed. I ran them that way for nearly 2 years before selling the scanners.

The new DT-40 amps don't even have the notch filter daughter board anymore. It's been completely removed from the design.

there was more than just the notch filter one of the tuning pots has gone too along with a few minor component changes to clean up the output,in effect bill made an already good scan set better

I really like the form factor of it - nice bit of engineering
hi dan at the meet the green would only do <80mw and the beam went fat and tem01

The removal of the hf damping was done later, when the driver itself was re-designed by Jian. That was not part of the "pangolin mod" that Pangolin was performing on the original scanners.

But yes, you are correct in that the idea to remove the HF damping control also originated from Bill Benner. By removing the HF damping, the tuning became extremely easy. However, I once tuned a set of the new DT-40's that Aaron had (before he bought his Kvant projector) and I found myself wishing that I still had the HF damping control.

Still, Bill's modifications to the DT-40 amps were much appreciated, and I agree that they made the scanners much better than they were. I wonder if he's had any input on the latest DT-40 wide-move scanner amps?

I have just purchased the same dt40pro's and seeing this has me wondering that I have purchased the wrong Scanners. Is this loss just with this scanner or are all scanners the same (unless purchasing more expensive scanners)?

    Thanks in advance.

Very nice job with the projector aswell.

    Very nice work there Chris.
when you go to get your window filter try to get a Sky Light one rather than a UV one. don't ask why but these seem to be most favored by people on PL.
