Unhappy Please Help with a couple of Noob DMX Questions...

Hi Guys, complete laser newbie here, I'm trying to get my head round all the terminology, tech and programs - so please bear with me.

I've just got this gear that my company has bought:

    http://www.laser-uk.co.uk/products.php?CID=3
    http://www.terralec.co.uk/dmx_lighti...l/25692_p.html

I have a few questions that I need advice/info on to help me get my head round a few things

My laser has 2 modes that I'm using the first is 'Sound to Light' which uses the inbuilt memory and presets. When this mode is on, my DMX controller has some cool effects that I can apply to the shows e.g. Vertical Roll, Horizontal Roll, Rotation, Zoom in and Zoom Out ...

    BUT

When I put the laser into SD Card Mode and use my custom lda's. My DMX controls only have the basic Left, Right, Scale and Intensity controls. The Cool Zooming and ROlling effects are gone. This is because the 'editconfig' app aka "ILDA-Player MP12C/LX" on the SD Card doesn't have any paremeters for these functions, only the basic boring movement controlls.

Is there any way to add the 'cool movements' like the zoom and rolls to the SD control mode, despite the SD Card Config Software not having an option for it?

Sorry if I'm sounding confusing - here's a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mZYBsnKAkk) on the SD Card config software - you can see the limitited movement controlls that it imposes on the laser/dmx controller once you start using the SD Option...

I've got a 16 channel DMX but the sotware limits you to about half that which seems silly

Any help would be massively appreciated.

    Thanks

I would guess that the ILDA playback firmware on the projector does not have that capability.

The number of DMX channels needed is defined by the particular unit, not by the size of your desk, I have a 2048 channel DMX desk at work, but no single lantern I own needs more then a few dozen channels, and the actual total channel count in terms of the entire rig fits into a single 512 channel universe.

Having a bigger desk just allows you to run other things as well as the laser.

Why not build the effects into your ILDA files rather then trying to run them over DMX?

    Regards, Dan.
