Default Synching Pangolin LD2000 with other software

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience synching Pangolin LD2000 software (Showtime) with other software packages?

I know Showtime "Live" can be MIDI-enabled, but for my idea I think I need to control Showtime itself. I would like to use an external software package such as Cakewalk Sonar as the master, and have it trigger and control Showtime using MIDI time control if possible. I was wondering if this could be accomplished with a basic MIDI interface, or if a SMPTE solution would be necessary.

    Thanks in advance...

Hi! It's my first post, simple i use this forum only for reading Some month ago we have expirience with synching Pangoline ShowTime with Lasergraph DSP over SMPTE(with Aquila controller), pangoline - slave(reading SMPTE), DSP - master(writing SMPTE), DSP controlled one 5W RGB, Pangoline - two 5W green. In dsp program i select "write SMPTE", and LD2000 read it. All starting by pressing "Play" in LGRemote, and... All work's good, without errors or delays.

Showtime "Live" actually triggers positions/scenes in the Showtime time-line. That makes it perfectly possible to trigger start-points in the timeline of Showtime via MIDI.

If you want to run Sequencer (like Cakewalk/Sonar/Cubase/Logic/Ableton Live) and Showtime on one computer, download the free MIDIyoke (www.midiox.com) driver that will give you virtual internal midi ports. Output to "MIDIyoke 1" in your sequencer and input from "MIDIyoke 1" in Showtime. The driver acts as a virtual internal midi cable.

    Thanks for the info, guys!

I have considered using a setup similar to Jeroen's suggestion, using LoopBE or possibly MIDI-over-LAN for remote sync. SMPTE sync would be cool, but I've about maxed out the hobby gear budget for a while!!

Once of the issues I noticed is the way Showtime Live assigns show segments to its various cues. Is there way to force an entire show to trigger off of just one Live cue?

    Thanks!

Never mind - I finally looked around the Live interface a bit more and see it works fine!
Don't auto-assign when launching Live; right-click; assign as needed.

    Duh....

I'm gonna do a show this friday a bit similar to your idea:

    - PC running Showtime2000 in Live! mode playing laser and audio
    - Cubase as MIDI-sequencer running on the background
    - Second PC with Cuelux software as DMX lighting controller

Cubase sends out one MIDI note to start Showtime2000 at the beginning of the show. Cubase will keep playing and sending out notes on another channel to the Cuelux PC to trigger lighting cues.

    It's a shame Showtime2000 doesn't have MIDI output capabilities.

Cool - let us know how it works out for you!

I agree on the MIDI outputs - it would definitely be cool to have that, or DMX groups and chases!
(Not that I really need those features quite yet...)

    PS -

Anybody checked out this DMX latest offering from Enttec?

DMX lighting control from within the MIDI workstation software!

    Cool!!
