There's nothing wrong charging 10$ per frame.
Not in principle. But it might be a little out of proportion if you can render each frame in an automated fashion, and only need to spend an evening fine-tuning the animation in the 3D modeling or animating package.

Sure, if you need to draw/trace/convert each frame from scratch by hand, it's perfectly valid given the amount of work you need to put in a show at that point. In that case, you're no different from a cel animation artist working at Disney.

Doing the math for a two minute show @ 25 frames per second, that makes 3000 frames. $10 per frame = 30K gross, which might be a little out of proportion if you have the means to automate the gross of the process, thereby dramatically reducing the amount of man-hours you need to put in.

Then again, if you ask 30K for a show, automating the rendering process gives you more time to implement even more really cool stuff.

As for free-to-grab 3D ILDA display files: What would you guys like to see?

    Amaze us !
Just like the topicstarter did !

We surely could use a looped animation of someone endlessly putting dollar-bills into a laser-projector
