    Default Pangolin Problem.

    Hello everyone.

Long time no see.. been really bussy lately but now im back.

I have a litle problem with LivePro from pangolin.

It dosnt make my laser produce the max output power.

    I have a VIASHO 1.7W 532nm.
And when i use it manually i can turn the meter up to 695 on the powersupply display.

But when using LivePro, (analog modulation) even though i have set everything i can think of to max it rarly goes over 400.

And when using Beam animation it dosnt go over 390 (half power)
I have set the power to be maximum (100) in the setting for Beams.

If i make my own abstract, i can make it reach 690 if i make a beam or similar that is really wide but if i make a simple circle or rectangel it dosnt go over 400.

is there some setting i might have missed.?

( i will try and make a video of the problem to show later tonight.)

    Thank you for any input.

    /Rickard

Have you tried downloading the latest pangolin 5.0?
    RGB laser projectors
    Pangolin Beyond .NET
    APC40 Midi controllers
    Pangolin FB3 controllers
    DZ splitter
    LS MegaWatt Green Machine

at the risk of kinking in an open door, have you taken into account that your laser is blanked in some frames, thus off for a portion of the time, and thereby producing less power averaged over time (time to scan one frame)?

    THnx for the answers..

    Carlos.
    Yes it is 5.00.1986

    Zoof.
Yes i thought of this and therefore only made a simple circle abstration.
altough i noticed just now that, if i dont use the default 4color circle and only select green and then also higher the default points value from 300 to 600 i get it up to around 600.

so the trick seems to be to higher the "Point" in the "abstraction properties" from 300 (default) to about 540-600. i can higher it even more but then the light starts to flicker fast.

But shouldent the laser produce the maximum when im for example is in the "Projection Settings" and displaying the ILDA pattern. and set the color settings to 2color and both green and red are to 100%

And when im in "Beam settings" to make a beam chase i dont get more then 135 on my laser? ( i have clicked the 100 dot for brightest)

Don't know if you're an FB3 user but if so, this thread may be of interest

Hey Rickard; I think this has been discussed in a thread or two before but I am not sure... I just started using LivePro. Have you called Pangolin about this? A call to them will usually fix all issue much faster than a post here. Not that we won't learn from your issue; it will just get fixed quicker by speaking to Pango directly.

Like Zoof, I would bet my dinner that checking the current is the same as power metering a modulated beam and you're just seeing an average.

A good tyre-kicking way to see if you are getting full power or not is to scan the ILDA TP onto a surface (obviously being careful with high powers) with modulation active and take note, photograph and even power measure portions of (where there's no blanking) for reference.
Then do it all again but with the modulation disconnected from the laser driver and the laser on full power CW and then see if you see a difference - apart from a load of trace lines

It has been written somewhere already, but basically Pango stuff splits the power equaly so when you do more effect at once, they have the same intensity.
Try to create 6-8 100% powered beams into exactly the same spot and you should get 100% of your total laser power there...just don't terminate the beam on your wife...or do... well that's your choice

I also wonder if we, most of us, are making our beams "correctly" as from what I understand we all do it differently. I was speaking to DZ one day and we realized we make beams totally different. He makes a point and then goes to a properties menu/box and raises the number of points to 200 or so for that "point". I make a circle and shrink it until it looks like a bright point... I am wondering if there is a "best" way to make a full power beam. I also realize we, you and I, are talking two different systems, QM and FB, but I am thinking we all could be making our beams differently and all getting different "powers of beams" base on our "production methods".
