has anyone used/tested one of these diodes?
i see they are wide stripe diodes, just wondering what lens and beams people are getting?
cheers

Sorry to go off topic on the second post Andy, but what happened to your 635nm project?
my 635 project?

oh that, its still being worked on

The Health and Safety Act 1971

I have 2 of these diodes, they seem quite nice.
A few observations-
1. They are power hogs, it takes ~500ma to get the 250mw output at 25C (measured without any lens, strait into the scientech 362)
2. They are very sensitive to temperature, running at 35c gives almost 1/2 power. A tec would be a must for any real application.
3. The beam, while not great, is not terrible. Using one of the triple lens collimators that Junktronix sells I was able to get a beam that measured .06in x 0.62in at 10m from a beam 0.045" by 0.2" out of the collimator
Attached is a picture of the beam at 10m, ~90% of the power is in the central line, but my camera was saturated even with the laser running just above threshold (the background is a white wall under sunlight!) so the overspray shows up more than it should.
As a side note, I have one of these diodes that is unused if anyone wants it (I am keeping the one I have been experimenting with), feel free to pm me an offer, I would like to get about $150 for it, but trades are welcome.
umm thanks very much for that info.
not the best beam, think ill pass on getting these.
i was hoping they would have a similar beam to a 150mw 642nm diode

One observation I missed last night--this is a 634nm diode not a 643 as the title shows.
