but yeah the legal stuff, i know its regulatory for you guys to be concerned there especially a ILDA member who knows the compliancies by heart, but really? for ten minutes? but yeah i would have bought everything and probably sold it (possible lost of money maybe). but yeah i would like to talk to you who are in charlotte as i am an hour from charlotte.

HEY DREAM BEAMS! renting a laser or have someone come and do everything? how does that work, youre in charlotte which is an hour away!

HEY SLICK! i would seriously consider the license plus bulding to my own specs deal couple of posts up too, i sent you a PM.

you guys i do want a laser too for my own use in the future thats why i said i would love to use it more (not for my art) but just me and my girlfriend are in love with them at shows. the house would be its home but i would love it as an awesome toy. i know i know its not a toy) lol--hell i would get a license if i was going to use it again with longer time to it in public so.

i really didnt say about me doing a show, i would just like to get together as "friends" so i can show you all of your options in person. Everyone telling you online really does not do it justice, showing someone just makes it easy.

It doesn't matter if it's ten hours, ten minutes, or ten seconds -
If you're planning on using your lasers in a public performance, whether it's one time or a hundred, you need to meet the legal and safety requirements...

understood, just dont need anyone here assuming that i haven't taken human anatomy courses and chemistry. basically keep out of eyes and no prolonged skin exposure which isnt even a problem with the plans i have... any unsafe conditions would mean the laser was used in opposition to what i intend it to do. thanks for concern though. i am considering a license and possibly looking at renting/hiring a laser/tech to do what i need. if i have a license i would maybe build one if i can teach myself --could ask you guys.

so how does one get a license, laser before the paper work or vice versa--who do i talk to/cost? if any

    thanks

There's a TON of info on licenses (also called a variance) here scattered about the forum, but here's a thread dedicated to this specifically: http://photonlexicon.com/forums/show...ariance+thread

There's a lot of good info in there..

The equipment variance tends to be the long, involved drawn-out process - which is why many of us that have built our own gear stick to this as a hobby and private performances only, especially when we're just starting out! There's quite a bit more to it than just the paperwork - the gear has to be built with very specific safety features, and the show restrictions involve more than just keeping the light out of the audience members eyes...

Dream Beamz and Gottaluvlasers (as well as several others on this forum) are pros that can be GREAT sources of information if you decide to pursue public performance. The thread that ElektroFreak pointed out is also a good spot to get started.

Good luck with this, whatever route you decide to go!

Just curious.. If you've never touched a laser, how do you know that you need roughly 400mw??
