Default Forum Upgrade next week. It's going to be nasty.

    Heya there.

Vbulletin will be releasing an update sometime next week and I am debating the logistics of doing a rapid deployment and catching up or staging the deployment and then minimizing the amount of catch up needed at the expense of time...

The actual "functional" downtime should be less than 2 hours as I get it to an operational state on the live database... So, what would you do?

    Poll Attached.

    Why delay the inevitable.

Shut her down, do what is neccessary, sort the problems, 2 prods on the gas, a little choke, clench your buttocks and crank her over.

Phased upgrades always prolong the heartache; this affects that, that effects this, now that effects that and we're back to square one.

I'd turn off the board, full backup, patch the database and files then fire it back up.

Back when I was doing this sort of gig, it was always easier (for me) to do updates offline. It might be a little inconvenient for the users but it would be sooo much easier on you.

    Just IMO......

I'd just go for it and do what you have to do .

Please be sure to try and let us know exactly when the downtime will be though as it could be important for those of us with deals going through and being discussed via PM.

Here's wishing you the best of luck

    Cheers

Gladly. As soon as I get the release notification I will try and schedule the install during some of the rare down time(2300EST-ish) and dump a notification somewhere on the board.

Lock n' load, then Fire for Effect...
