    ^^ What he said.

I think that most people will want the facility to get simple readouts standalone, without having to go to the expense of the Pro model.

Perhaps it's worth a poll to see what sort of configuration and price point people are most interested in.

I can see a number of people in this thread are keen to buy something

Apparently there is. I'll work on a middle model that is just a display unit then with no pc connectivity at all.

I got a really silly solution for that, a $10 multimeter duct taped to the top... Or you could get fancy and put it inside and cut out the screen and power on button.

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

Updated thread with pictures of the new enclosure. Smaller and more compact. Will have a membrane switch on the front face with 4 buttons for settings and features.

The pictured wires coming from the side of the enclosure are only for the prototype. The head will be connected by a 4 pin mini-din connector to easily remove the sensor from the base unit.

I did also want to say that I'm now taking pre-orders for the Kenometer Pro at $350 each. Shipping is not included in that price. The time estimate on delivery is 2-3 weeks out at the minimum. I'm waiting on graphical overlays for the front face and no clue how long that will take. Interested parties should PM me.

I've just now received the membrane switches for the meter and wanted to show you all. There will be an overlay over the switch so you won't see it.

and here is an example of a potential overlay.

Hehe this is NOT how crappy the real thing will look. This was just me printing something really quick to get a looksee.

Well, literally the only thing stopping me from actually calling these done, is I don't have professionally printed overlays yet. They start printing tomorrow and should be done in a week. If you want to pre-order, you can do so at

Great, but it says it can measure up to 4W.
"or attach to an external heat-sink and read up to 20 Watts"

do you also sell these external heat sinks? what would these cost ?

I suppose you can use any heatsink that can dissipate (in your case) at least
    10 Watts...
I have a few Kenometer Lites... and that same Heads without heatsinking get
quite warm at just over 2 Watts within a few minutes... which is a bit worrying to
me since the sensitive OP Amp and electronics is in the head...

I will definitely be heat sinking mine if measuring powers over 2 Watts.... or maybe
even installing a TEC to cool it.. Hope this helps...

@ Kenom.... Nice Kenometer Sales site....
