Hi all, I realise you've never seen me personally, but i thought i'd post my mothers fund-raising page on JustGiving.com.
On 25th May last year (my mothers birthday!) my father was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of brain cancer - Gioblastoma multiforme and was given three weeks to live. However, he hung on for a massive 7 months afterwards so a big credit to him!!
We noticed his behaviour had changed dramatically in the few days before we had to take him to hospital, and the news was a bit of a blow to say the least!
Anyway, to cut a long story short, a local hospice called the St Davids Hospice of Wales helped us with all necessary paperwork that needed to be filled out, as well as provide us with a hoist, electric reclining chair & bed, as well as fitting a special shower in the house - about £3000 of equipment, ramps (or house has a LOT of steps!) and other things like that.
Now we're planning on paying some of that back to them - in July, Mum is going to drive her 1974 VW campervan from Lands end to John O Groats - 2000 miles ish?? yeah i know its not a lot of miles for you USA guys but for our little bit of land in the UK it seems like a lot!!
and i'm going to do a skydive in may sometime when i graduate from uni
This is in no way a heart-string pulling thread ok, I just thought i'd push the boat out there as i want to help mum as much as i can!
the link to her justgiving page is HERE,
Thanks everyone for taking 5 minutes to read this!
Tom
