Casio LED/Laser Projectors

so who is going to be the first to buy one of these to rip the lasers out of

the spec says its 2000-3000 ansi and uses one green laser one blue laser and one red led

and i have seen a price some where of like 700euros for the 2k ansi model

So, we're all going to be running out to buy high power BLUE lasers so that we can convert the light to green... WTF!, i think not

yea i read that too was like wtf

but its Casio not some unknown Chinese mfg so i have no idea what to think

Maybe it means there will be some cheaper blue lasers appearing on the market once this type of projector becomes the accepted norm.

We can always hope... Anyone know what wavelength blue they're using?

I was reading this thread and then came across something rather interesting whilst trawling the Consumer Electronics Show Articles on the net. It's a miniature Laser video projector slightly larger than a portable external Hard drive. I'm guessing that it uses Red and blue diode lasers and a Green DPSS (unless there has been a major breakthrough with the mystical green diodes) being fed in to a 3-in-one Dicho and reproduces images using the raster method, Rather than using a DLP chip and incoherent light like the casio projector does. The real beauty of using coherent light is the fact that the projector doesn't need focusing, the manufacturer is claiming 10 lumens which is pretty bright for an iPhone sized piece of kit with most conventional Pico projectors only managing 1-5 lumens tops!

They are thinking about building the laser display engines in to the top of laptop screens and embedding them in mobile phones. Can any one see these things being scaled up to produce rear projection laser TV's

Hi Matt

These have been discussed before on PL, I believe there is an entire thread somewhere dedicated to these small projectors.

If I recall correctly I even registered with the manufacturers to be kept informed of progress, but alas, so far I have heard nothing.

It was mentioned that the price point would be ~£250, if that's the case i'll be one of the early adopters
