I see they are already discussing 6W pointers and what to burn.![]()
Another blue wavelength to play with 464nm!
cool

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Laserists do it by the nanometre.

Nice white balance according to chroma, maybe just a tad green. Luminous flux : 4955 lm![]()

Not a LPF bash at all, but I love this comment on the thread over there. The real issue is collimation, that and what to do with 21W of coherent white laser.
Can you imagine the same comment being made over here?
Now, let me think... what could I do with 21W of coherent white light...?
Memorable quote form Backdraft
Donald 'Shadow' Rimgale: [at Ronald's parole hearing] What about the world, Ronald? What would you like to do to the whole world?
Ronald Bartel: Burn it all.
jisees.
Not long untill someone is going to fry someones eyes or set a fire (long distance).
The sad but good news is that as soon as someone makes a mistake like that many countrys hopfully will stop manufactures like WL to sell and manufacture Laserpointers.
Ive seen they now sell a 445nm 1Watt pointer for 119USD, so dont be surprised if we will see some accidents soon.
But for us Showers, would this sony projector be of any use?
The mrad is sky high if you check the specs, but perhaps with some expensive optics?
This is just the start of it! There's going to be many more wavelengths available at much greater power levels sooner than we imagine. As a holographer, I'm waiting for them all to be single emitter, single mode, single frequency, stable and have symmetrical beams with common divergence & diameters. Whaddya think? 5 years for five across the visible, all Class 4, at <$1K for the set?![]()
This could be absolutely what everyone has been waiting for - look at the wavelengths - 640, 532, 464. Almost the desirable combination of 640, 532 and 457. In fact I wouldn't like to bet against 464 still being a dark enough blue given that its being used in a projector and presumably this needs a true blue rather than a cyan.
Only question is the power levels. Its intersting to see that the output can be from 1,000 lumens to 10,000 lumens although from a quick skim read I couldn't work out if the diodes were 21 w as standard and thus turned down for 1,000 lumens or if they were lower output and stacked to achieve the high output.
