    Default Argon Laser Power Supplies

At the moment, this is more of a "feeler" to gauge interest rather than an actual sales thread. I know it is usually easier to find small argon lasers (ALC60V, SP161 etc) than it is to find appropriate power supplies.

George is considering making a batch of power supplies, but requires definite orders for 10 units to make it a worthwhile exercise. These are the same supplies that he used in his 60X systems.

These run from 230v and have an adjustable output from 8 - 15 amps. A starter is built in. They would be supplied with the correct connector to mate with a 60X head. A start circuit is also built in. These can be easily modified by fitting the transistors with flying leads and mounting the heatsink elsewhere if required.

Price would be (approx) £250. If you are interested, please state this in the thread. This will not be a commitment to buy, just an expression of interest. If enough people are up for this, then we might be able to get something together.

I don't know how much this will help, and I don't mean to thread-jack. But I have a spare Cyonics / JDSU-2211-20SL Argon laser head sitting in a box in the garage (no PSU) so may be ideal for one of these power supplies. It's got 4,000 hours on it I *think* (It's either 4K or 2K). It takes a max of 10A line current. Could be the perfect match with this PSU board?!?
(Personally I don't have the spare cash to buy another argon PSU, hence offering the other head I've got for sale)

If anyone is interested drop me a PM.

Exactly, there are more heads available than there are suitable PSU's.

    Hello quazar.
I am totally new to the forum. But very interested in this product !
We are a few members of laserfreak to have a head of ALC60X without power supply.
I'll seek, to find a maximum number of customers,if this transaction is possible.
    Best, james.

I think your problem is going to be price here. £250 for a PSU is a lot of money considering you can get a PSU to do the job off of Ebay for around £50.

I fully understand there is £250 worth of work/parts involved there but there is just too much other choice out there for people to light an ALC60 for a lot less money.

For instance, I purchased a working ML ALC60 (doing 100mW) with built in PSU (exactly the same one as in the above picture), PM21 controller and colour changing optics/electronics (no scanners) for £120.

£100 and you would possibly sell many

I do agree, its not "cheap" and the price you paid for your system was an "extreme bargain". The parts alone for this cost clost to £180, then there is the time to build them. As I said originally, occaisonally other power supplies do appear, but not that often. Hence this thread to gauge opinion and interest.

I support this build, but I agree if I had a head to power, I'd consider buying your psu after every other ebay possibilities, which is quite normal considering the sum involved

the only problem is that waiting for an ebay item to pop can be indefinitely long, and as for many other people, waiting several more days for ebay is preferable

the advantage, though, is that they will power any small tube if you don't want max performance, and they seem to be very easily adaptable
