Less chance of getting lung cancer with silicon carbide, right? :) I'm sure that would also work, but it would make the optical path for the IR feedback a lot more complicated. (Seems like the scanner mounting block itself would be in the way.) Picking off the IR after the scanners is...

Cool. Glad you read right. Full beam ahead! Laser entertainment is certainly enlightening. You've pulled off an amazing, historic resurrection with great support.

Yes, I read that as a joke. That's one of my favorite kinds of humor: a comic intentional misunderstanding within an interesting historical context. The developments of the past few weeks have brought the content to impressive new psychedelic heights. My heart is burning to make it possible for...

The 3D implementation should be quite an asset. Re: Juke Box quarter port Thanks for the thoughtful reply...but I do want you to know that I was joking around. Today, counting for inflation it would have to be $5 bills. :D:D

How about making the mirrors double sided and bouncing the IR off the back and employing 2 IR sensors for each mirror?

Beryllium is common for resonant scanner mirrors (such as CRS 8k and 12k), and for some large galvo mirrors, in the >15mm aperture range, for very high end (expensive) systems. Novanta, who acquired Cambridge Technology, has their own Beryllium manufacturing cleanroom facility now ...

So, does anyone have any logo suggestions for SELEM this year? This is the 17th SELEM, btw. Here's a link to the logo thread from last year, if you want to look back at all of the previous logos we've had. Adam

Hmm. Google says that Beryllium's density is roughly 1/3 that of Aluminum, and it's stronger as well. Still, the mirrors aren't the major source of weight in a scanning system, so unless we're talking about 2" aperture mirrors or something crazy, I doubt the weight savings would be enough to...

I have developed some combinable 3D 6B modes which are enabled through the show cues script, same as any needed overrides. The next experiment is to play a 1 projector XYRGB number such as Kandinsky on four projectors with 3D perspective and slight playback start time delays according to distance...

This simple photo is showing A 6B show in 3D perspective which to my knowledge wasn't possible with any LII system, although I guess it could have been done in some way in a 24 track show.

This photo shows the go / stop button, which is the only non-PC control needed on the jukebox. I could easily enable a coin counter line.

Here is photos of the catweazle unit. I bought it on ebay for $400 twenty or so years ago. Subsequently had it returned to medialas in Germany, who rebuilt the galvos, barely used since then so a buyer should get long, good performance. I'd take $150US.

It's to the point where I ignore any new posts in the Hologeekery page because I know they're spam. What a small and niche forum to hit for spam. Target LPF...

Agreed. My goggles are OD 13+ at 1064 nm. One good thing about the 22 mm focal point, after that it expands fairly fast, still very high energy. I wonder though, how many mm the beam would need to be expanded to reduce the hazard to that of a 1 watt CW laser @ 4 mm diameter, I will calculate it...

Hello All, I'm an IT Nerd that dabbles in electronics as a hobby, so please pardon the potentially 'stoopid' question! I'm working on a project that requires the use of a low-power ~650nM laser in the 5-10mW range, and I've hit a surprising wall in the quest to source a discrete component...

Has anyone considered using beryllium mirrors as a low mass option for scanners? They work great for space telescopes.
