Hi Dr Strobes. I see no one has replied to you but I'll say this. Buying a laser of 8 watts in power for $600 is unreal! Almost too good to be true. Over the years lasers have come down in price but that says to me it's fake or such poor quality it will be laughable. I hope I'm wrong. ...

Years ago there was a store called Efston Science that had a box of inventory from a supplier called Edmund Optics. There were random new components such as dichroic optics and gold surfaced concave mirrors, and they had a well stocked science project supply area which included diffraction film,...

Nice improv, Greg. The audience never knows what's actually going on behind their backs. This is why the wizard always hides behind the curtain. BTW, where can I get some of those diff gratings for my rig? BR Roj

Cost and availability of materials, ease of assembly, bang for buck, being able to flip a couple of diffraction effects in front of the projectors makes a show disproportionately more interesting. Also, before it goes away, listen to this show intro mixed from bits of shows including Crystal...

I am wondering if its powertrack mirrors or something in the UF cavity... the diodes are only 800 hrs of use and head is 1400hrs. The issue started when there was sudden change in wavelength..

14.7W at over 40A sounds like either diodes are end of life or something in beam delivery optics got broken.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I am a novice. I did try the LBO temperature optimization through command prompt, but that did not help. Wanted to run FAP-I optimization but not sure how to access the diode optimization menu/service login on GUI. Also forgot to add in my earlier post, I am using this...

So actually yes, I solved my problem. It wasn't the diodes. My problem was that I played a bit (a dangerous thing to do) with the menus and EEPROM contents of the controller while in "maintenance" mode and must have wrecked something. In the end I went through the RESET procedure of the laser head,...

Trying to revive this again… did you sort this problem? I might have the same issue too, caused by a sudden shift in the wavelength. Thanks.

I am using a Verdi V18/Chameleon setup that started acting up this morning. Upon starting the laser (front key), The current ramps up to about 45A, and the laser is struck in "Starting" (unable to modelock). I left it on for 30 mins and eventually it went to "Output power is low" (error 52; lasing...

That board was just included for the parts. It had four fairly fast 12 bit adc & dac chips. It plugged into a IBM PC, and I used it to characterize the analog color computer of a Hell 340 rotary drum scanner recorder. I built it about 7 years after my time with Laser Images.
