A new artist is putting up his first show in a nice public gallery.

A man says to him, I am a famous art critic. Would you like to hear my opinion of your work?

    Sure! says the artist.

    The critic exclaims, It's worthless!

I know, but I'd like to hear it anyway, the artist replies.

That's the thing about great art though. Sometimes there's far more insight and perspective in a 3:57 song than could be explained in a one hour lecture. But you have avail yourself to it and become part of the experience. You don't get anything out of it if you don't let it in.

    Wow.

    You really don't get it.

    The song is about YOU.

It's about how YOU value everything YOU experience.

You get what you are looking for in life whether you conscientiously know it or not.

The world is a shitty place or it's full of wonderful things.

    That's on YOU.

I would think that the song's climax with a whole step key change up and then back down again followed by a trombone slide would have clearly illustrated this, but I guess not.

The very best kind of subliminal messages in art are those that were never liminal to begin with.

I'm not shoehorning you into anything.

I'm just offering a commentary on art and its perception. This is relevant to anyone in any audience and to the expectations of artists.

Who do you have a better chance of influencing, your audience or yourself?

I read the whole thing. It was very well written and to the point. It kinda assumes live performance but it can also apply to static art like a gallery show or digital art online.

I do however like absurd, ridiculous irony and sarcasm.
