Default Lasers and fiber optics show

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p05HRFGdbk

The laser effect was brighter than in the video which was done with a little cannon video camera. Also the power was deliberately lowered for safety as the effect was in constant contact with the dancers and audience. The lighting was also brighter than expected. The effect is done using fiber optics that we wanted to hide but time and a stage full of equipment stopped us so we had to in the end just do it.

The lasers used where dpss with a lot of alignment and we intend to improve this a lot soon.

The main dancer is often dissapearing behind the smoke but this is actually the low smoke reaching the video camera that wa salmost on the floor.

    Welcome any comments.

this is really nice! I like the moment where the main dancer appears in a frost mist, she looks like a frost mage of some fantasy story

laser effects are nice also! this is done with difraction gratings on gloves, right?

hmm that makes me think of putting 5 different gratings in a row, each activated by a finger, with a sixth one to avoid fixed beams (or each grating disabling a beam block when they are triggered)

I'd call it "da gauntlet" wahaha ^^

it's really a nice idea, hope you'll improve it to something unequaled before

shrad, I am working on another that has a dmx/midi controlled servo using a gratings wheel with 20 effects and a blank for singe beam then to allow these effects to be in sync with the show perfectly leaving only the dancer to use her skills to be in the right place of the music. its all easy to do until i start adding motors and geers, the units become quite heavy.

and if you use a stepper motor like those used in floppy readers for head movement? very small, easily drivable, relatively fast...

you could put your wheel on a small gearbox to speed it up a bit, and all you would need is a pair of AA batteries (or better a 9V battery), or even a small 12V or 5V cable along the fiber

yes a stepper should be ok, its quite easy in theory but soon ends up being quite a large thing, I will show you what I do in the end.

Use an ultrasonic wave motor like they use in Nikon AF-S camera lenses. They come in a ring shape with no gearing or motor body needed.
