    I'm pretty bored with this childish tit for tat stuff now, I'm sticking with my first post:

    As it was stated that the problem was with incorrectly wired sockets; buy a socket tester for 20 Euros.

    I wouldn't jump in a bath without checking the temperature unless I was 99.99% certain I wouldn't scald my arse.

    I got *my* 5Amps from the attached specifier sheet, I know there are other manufacturers and you could connect several in parallel etc, but though it could be made to work; MOVs are designed for snubbing high voltage induced short pulses and besides; it just seems like we are using a sledge hammer to crack a nut. If the supply is in doubt; check the supply?

    On a seperate note; even though you don't know *anything* about me, my education or background; I am able to struggle my way through the simple multiplication that is the RMS to peak calculation. I don't talk down to you so you shouldn't feel the absolute necessity to talk down to me.

    Regards, Ian

    It seems like you read something into my posting that I didn't intend to put there. Sorry Ian. I agree, a socket tester is a better solution.

    If I misinterpreted you, then you have my appologies.

    I'm not generally paranoid.

    Now stop talking behind my back and don't touch my stuff.

    I heard that.

    <DeLurk>

    I suspect that what may actually be needed is a over voltage relay wired to prevent a power relay energising if the supply is out of tolerance.

    Bender make a suitable product. If you are working from generators a lot then adding under frequency shutdown is a good idea (Saved me from expensive repairs more then once).

    personally I favour having a volt meter on the distro wired before the main breaker so I can verify all phases before closing the big switch (Neutral asymetry detection and frequency error shutdowns are still a good idea however (They can just operate a shunt trip on the main breaker)).

    Regards, Dan.
