Default Has anyone ever seen or heard of this guy?

Jason Latimer: Magician that uses lasers in his act.

I study magic, I love the engineering behind it.
I've never seen anyone use lasers in there act except for maybe a beam shot or two. This guy uses them as a prop. Watch the videos, you'll get the idea.

I wonder if he's any good. His website sure pumps him up.

    insane!

I always had a fascination with magic also. although i dont know the first thing about it.

guys like this latimer are great and all, but there are legitimate scientific explanations behind his work. Still impressive of course. I am not saying it isnt amazing, but there are explanations. Guys like David Blaine are what REALLY freak me out. he just pops up on the street with no props, no set up time, no mirrors no nothin and all of a sudden hes pulling an Ace of spades out of your ear! lol.

all of it impressive none the less. But i like the "in your face" spur of the moment type of magic more.

I also spent many years studying magic. It really is fun.
Jason is amazing. If you're accepted into the Magic Castle in Hollywood, then you definately have the right stuff going on...and he was accepted when he was a kid. Cool stuff.
I have been a fan of his and the laser/magic illusions he does are sweet.
It's super creative and amazing to see.

    Cool

I've seen an early version of his act on youtube where he hangs his shirt on a hanger and then sets the hanger on a beam of light from a green pointer. It's pretty cool, really. From the look of his website, he's added more laser-related illusions to the act, and also polished it up quite a bit. I image it would be most impressive to see in real life.

I've seen his YouTube videos a long time ago.. and actually about a Month ago I was at a restaurant (Lawry's The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills) and I saw a little flyer that he actually does shows there. I've heard that getting into the Magic Castle isn't as tough as one might think, I had a professor who e-mailed some of the magicians that perform there and he said that all of them responded with free tickets.

Going to see shows is easy. I meant being "accepted" into the Magic Castle as a performer/student is the hard part.

The laser coat hanger is defintely amazing. In the clip, he's also doing some moves with a a pair of green pointers (Star Wars quarterstaff style), but I wouldn't really want to be on the front row during these. I doubt he's using 5mW Dealextreme pointers for his acts

Then again, if you design shows like this, you would probably have a dedicated laser safety officer on site (with his finger on the big red dead-man mushroom remote kill switch). Hence the wire coming from the big green unit, so the crew can pull the plug in case something nasty happens.
