Yes, this is possible. Also Video clip playback inside shows is being improved as well.
The interesting thing is most of the premade shows don't use the more advanced features I have added in the mean time, so show quality should get much better once those start to be used.
About windows 7, I looked in to this and the windows 7 error message was caused by an older LDS dongle API that wasn't even used in your case. I've updated LSX so the message won't pop up anymore. Compatibility on Windows 7 should be good.
Thank you everyone for your positive participation and interest! I look forward to seeing what you've done at SELEM and showing many tips and 'how tos' in a presentation.
You posted while I was posting, so I'll just edit this here.Bioinc Badger...
First off, thank for for your feedback.
About the activation method, the current method is a result of being able to activate LSX on many different devices as well as older LDS dongles. I agree with what you say about the reason for getting an LSX dongle and it is already in the plan very soon to have the dongle that you purchased be able to solitarily command the software on any computer without the need for further contact to activate on that computer.
About installation:
It is true that a customizable installer can be scripted to allow you to choose components beforehand instead of asking you to cancel the bonus installers that run after LSX is installed. A developer has to choose what to work on based on importance, and given the fact that a user spends much more time using the program rather than installing it, focus has primarily been on developing LSX itself. Perhaps in this instance a compromise can be reached, whereby the LSX installer is made separate from the bonus applications installers, which can be launched from a different, 'bonus application' installer on the DVD. That said, the reason they are currently in the main installer is because they bring real value to the package in not asking the user to manually run individual installers for value-added components.
Originally, the LSX installation was more-or-less portable, with all of the data in the main program installation folder. Unfortunately, this was somewhat messy but more importantly, completely incompatible with windows vista and 7 security, which disallows a user program writing in its install folder. Thus, the current system file layout structure was devised in accordance with the recommended way forward in these new operating systems, with publicly readable and writable documents available to all users in the standard common user folder, and the per-user documents stored in your My Documents folder. I have made this as painless as possible, adding link shortcuts to and from both locations, and it should be very fast for you to navigate to the 'my documents' folder from the root windows explorer, and so to both locations. That said, it will be possible to create a custom media location entry in the installer, some time in the future, but 'till then, if you don't want the media installed to the standard location, you can move it anywhere you want, I'd just suggest putting a link from the old location to the new location so you can quickly navigate there as LSX learns your new desired media locations.
As for portability, the most important files, your user files, are very portable. The documents that you create and your scanner settings are conveniently located in your My Documents\My LSX Files folder, which makes them easily portable to new installations as well. This way you don't have to transport all of LSX on your flash drive, only the relevant components.
Again, thank you for your comments. I hope that now that you are done installing LSX, you'll begin to enjoy learning and using it![]()
