it's been a really fun collaborative project and i fully expect adam's widget will be way cooler than mine.

I would be happy to talk about the audio visualizer Teensy project! Haven't had much time to work on it this week, but I'm hoping to hammer some more on it this weekend. (Working on porting everything to the smaller Teensy 4.0 and also a new audio shield that both simplifies the project and adds extra capability, including audio playback!)

David, I'll try to give you more details in a week or two regarding the presentation...

Also, to be clear: Chris Short had the original idea back in February and sent me a short video of his unit in operation. When I asked him how he did it (because I wanted to build one myself), he sent me the parts list and some demo code to verify that the audio hardware was working. Took me a while to get the hardware sorted, but once I had output, I started an email chain with a bunch of folks (including Chris) and sort of went full ham on the project, including starting from scratch with the code (using AI to do the heavy lifting). I have the entire, messy process saved in a series of emails, transcripts, and code fragments. The original units I built were a bit different that the one Chris has, as I started playing around with different displays right away. Also, my code is different than his, even though they perform similar functions. The latest iteration I'm working on (using the smaller Teensy 4.0) uses different audio hardware that will be very cool, if I can get it all working.

You did the Cat-A endorsement course in 2023, and last year we talked about how the LSO certification will need to be renewed every 5 years, but Cat-B is news to me. So yeah, I think we'd all like to know more about it!

FWIW, my T4 Laser Synth PCB is a derivative of this 6 *ADC in / 8 * DAC out PCM3168 eval audio board.

Hi, my name is Jimena Carolina and I'm a Chilean light and sound artist attending from Chile. I'm also a MadMapper Certified trainer and an ILDA Corporate Member. I can't bring my my own lasers yet but I'd like to propose several things to show and share:

- A light installation composed by projector image - live camera - sound and a Arduino controller to be operated by attendees. Can be placed anywhere, no requirements at all. I have access to monthly MadMapper licenses if someone is interested to keep looking into this amazing software.

- A basic and advanced MadMapper - MadLaser workshop / demonstration, also open to community to participate applying safety requirements.

- Live laser operation for music played at night, if I can access to a laser equipment. I have my own Helios Laser DAC, cables, etc.

- Also, I'll bring some little 3d clear filament printed little lamps of my own design to sell at low price, just to share art.

Hi everyone! Next week I'll contact you with all the information, I'd like to do many things, so I'll make a proposal list for you to tell me which ones could be done. I'll arrive August 1st. But in priority order is like: Live camera and Arduino light art installation (doesn't have to be every day), MadMapper workshops inviting to operate after demonstration (maybe a basic one and an advanced one), as I said I have licenses to share, free monthly ones and 4 mad laser of my own (each one can be used with many lasers), laser live for sound, and maybe a short presentation with music from my label. Short presentations maybe according to the schedule. That's for now, talk to you next week! Maybe I can give you a little certificate from Garage Cube for attending these workshops also, we'll talk to see how many MM licenses I can get. (Full software, no watermark or anything like that).
I'm so exited about this event, thanks for your kind words, I' so grateful to have the support from Patrick, ILDA, MadMapper and SELEM organization. Sorry if my English is not so good today, I'm so tired just can't think straight.

Hi Jimena,

Really looking forward to seeing you at SELEM this year. I do believe you will be our furthest-traveled attendee at SELEM! (That title was previously held jointly by Dimitri Modderman, Francesco Van Loon, and Pieter Ruysch, all from the Netherlands.)

Since you will be arriving on Saturday, August 1st, you are welcome to come to the Echoes concert with us that evening. (Echoes is a 10-piece Pink Floyd tribute band. They're *very* good, and we've done lasers to support their concerts several times in the past.) At present, we'll have Brad Billet, myself, and David Zurcher running consoles for the show, but we may have a few last-minute additions.

Load-in for SELEM will be Sunday, August 2nd. After we get things set up, we all go out for diner at a local restaurant before coming back to the venue for a little pre-SELEM fun. (Fair warining now: don't plan on getting much sleep during SELEM... Officially it's supposed to be from 10 AM until Midnight, but Brad and I are usually at the venue before 9 AM, and we're almost always running until 2 AM every night.)

No worries about having access to extra laser projectors, controllers, video projectors, sound equipment, cables, or anything else you might need during the event. Trust me: there will be spares available. (I'll leave it to others to clarify this admittedly loaded statement, but as a hint: Brad has 2 storage units full of laser stuff, and we call it "Mount Laser-more!")

Regarding lasers and laser consoles in particular, one of the main purposes of SELEM is to give people the chance to test-drive other people's equipment to see how it works and to get a feel for what you might like (or dislike). So yeah, if you want to play on someone's console, just ask! (Most of us only get a couple chances per year to talk about this stuff, so we're super happy to be able to share our passion with someone who has similar interests.)

Also, this is a very informal event, so if you're going to do a presentation on the things you've been working on, don't feel like this is a TED talk or anything. This isn't a trade show, and we're a very forgiving audience, so you don't need to over-prepare. Also, be prepared for impromptu demonstrations, as people may start asking questions about your work later in the day, and this sort of thing often leads to a "Let's just set this up real quick and I can show you...." situation.

I'll probably need about an hour for my presentation on the Teensy audio visualizer project. I'm thinking maybe Tuesday at 2 PM?

I could also do a presentation on my 8-bit CPU on breadboard build (based on Ben Eater's kit), if there's enough interest, but maybe that's better as an impromptu demo.?. I'm up for whatever...

We also need to figure out how to share time between the planetarium dome and the rest of the "Auditorium" room. Maybe we block out large swaths of timesfor one space or the other, say in 4 hour blocks, and then schedule shows within each block? And if nothing is scheduled in the Auditorium, we can run more stuff in the dome, or vice-versa.

Regarding the Club-SELEM side, we can also have a schedule there if people are going to sign up for things, but I'd suggest leaving the early hours open for ad-hoc stuff. (Rick may have more input on this.)

Sorry for this delay post, have been busy days but here I am, have my plane ticket, hotel accommodation and visa waiver, so Im ready to go, still really unbelievable to me but so exited to be part of SELEM and here are the things Id like to do so you can organize where and when and if they are able to carry out. (Im sorry if my English isn't perfect this makes me a little shy haha)

- I'm definitely going to "Echoes" on Saturday 1st, I arrive that morning after a long travel so I hope to rest and then go see the live laser performance and meet you guys! Don't know the location and time yet but obviously is going to be posted. You could send me a DM here to share my telephone number and be in contact via WhatsApp, definitely having roaming to communicate and using uber.

- I'd like to do a light art installation, using projector, camera, computer and Arduino controller so people can interact directly with it, and if they are some random objects I'll map them by hand composing a site-specific, or walls or anything really. I'll have ready most of it on a Madmapper project. I just need a dark place and some time to set it up, hope to be early Sunday 2nd to do it. This may be running a couple of days so I can do other things Wednesday and Thursday. My equipment: Epson projector, MacBook Pro M4 max, Madmapper, self made Arduino controller, tripod, Sony Alpha 7iii camera cables and everything needed. I'm still searching info about electrical transformers and adaptors, I have to review equipment info also. Here are some references of my work on this area:

- Offer a Madmapper-Madlaser basic workshop, for this I would need a couple of laser equipments, I'll bring my two Helios Laser DAC adapters and can share licenses if someone is interested to bring their computer and experiment. After this workshop would be nice to have time to share my laser connected computer for laser operators to use it under my surveillance. I'll show the basics is the software, configure inputs, security masks, parameters, etc. Nothing like a TED talk! haha, I'll be there to share what I know and have fun.

- I'm part of a little music label, if I may, I'd like to present a little live laser presentation using some tracks of 4 of us, I don't know maybe 40 minutes or so, any night. And of course, love performing live laser with any kind of music, so any night if there is the possibility please, count with me! I'll prepare different Madlaser projects for this purpose.
