Sorry james you really are pathetic when you behave like this...

come on.... you should be better than this
Move on.. don't cry/complain..... if the osftware is as good as you preach it is... people can't get around it in the future.
The problems you encounter are mainly because of your internetpersonality and the way you act.
Anthony, I've read MORE than enough from you. I can't take anything you write seriously.

    You don't get it.

Rather than interjecting your own emotional BS, why don't you just stay out of it and let people who DO understand the issue sort it out.

If ILDA can't get over itself to fix something that is obviously stupid (by spiteful design) then why should any of us feel comfortable with the idea that they now what to control our credibility as laserists?

Consider what some of them (and you) have tryed to do to my credibility.

If they can't find a way to act with integrity, then they will always be a sham.

It's a real shame that you can't direct all that rage toward wanting things to be right instead of just so-so.

I definitely understand how angry these things can make a person.

It's not trivial at all. Is it?

Now consider how much each one of us has invested in this matter.

Our ability to know, understand and trust ILDA is the core of the issue of this thread.

    Anthony:

    Chill out. Seriously.

    James:

You'd do a lot better if you'd stop harping on about the ILDA file format. We all know it's deficient in a couple of ways. Why don't you design something better?

    Everyone else:

I really think lasers need online (that is, cheap, fast and available) training courses so that we can make a serious attempt at reducing the number of dangerous lasers in foolish hands. Any course that requires people to go to a training centre is going to be orders of magnitude too expensive for these people. This is something we desperately need, since the right to own a laser is not constitutionally protected in the way that some other dangerous objects are... either we move as a community, or they get totally banned.

    Geez, James -

No, NONE of the actual thread-related information that has been exchanged is trivial, but at the same time, other than what YOU have posted, none of this has been about YOU and your issues with the ILDA!!

Just about anyone that has spent anytime on this forum over the past year has read and heard, ad nauseum, about your long-standing personal issues with the ILDA and it's senior leadership. Well, guess what - this thread is NOT about perceptions of the best ILDA file format, Laserboy, or whether or not member(s) of the ILDA haven't paid enough attention to you and your ideas, even though you refuse to join the organization!

This is about the efforts of THE internationally-recognized body that is concerned with the laser-entertainment industry, and it's efforts to establish a system of accreditation that could ultimately benefit the laser professionals and hobbyists alike! For the most part, even though viewpoints have varied widely, this thread has been a great civil exchange of different ideas that could help "tweak" the PROPOSED accreditation process.

When you post on THIS thread about how "stupid" the ILDA is, how they - and us - have tried to damage your credibility, and demand apologies for a perceived wrong that was done to you by members of ILDA some 5 years ago, YOU are "interjecting your own emotional BS", and doing nothing to contribute to the intent of this thread.

    WTF?

I'm pretty sure Anthony is not the problem here....

He didn't have his 'letters of recommendation'

Personally, the extra gold star that the thread is about sounds OK for big professionals minus a few qualifications. But it's encouraging to hear talk of a basic laser training online course and YES it would be a good requirement for conscientious laser sellers to require.

I think it's a good idea to have a whole lot of stuff on the web in the form of text, pictures and video about all aspects of laser safety as it pertains to anyone who may come into contact with lasers used for display.

I also think it's a good idea to make condensed paper pamphlets that direct readers to this information to be made available at the location of any laser show.
