Nothing compares with DZ's rig, dude. Nothing. But that's OK. It's not a contest after all. (If it was, DZ would have won long ago!) It's just going to be cool to see your unit running.

Oh, and just to let you know, I've got a color correction board in my projector now, along with an easy way to bypass it so I can give people the "before" and "after" demonstration with the flick of a switch. (Well, 2 switches to be exact.) So that will also be on-tap for FLEM.

    Thank you Adam!

I wasn't competing with DZ, just indirectly complementing him on his fantastic build that motivated me to take apart my first attempt and go with this new (hopefully better) one

As for the color correction boards, I heard from DZ last night that you guys were working on that, and your post just makes me that much more excited about them Bummer about that rasters though

    Dan
    Hey Dan,

I will be mounting them back to back. The optics/lasers/scanners on one side (the scanner drivers might end up up there, not sure yet), and the PC (with QM2000), power supplies will be mounted to the back side of the plate.

I am trying to find a good solution to hinge the 2 top sides to make them 'openable' doors

    Thanx;

Thank you bridge... I'm sure your lasers will find a great home in this new case

Would you mind divulging some details on the aluminum bar stock you used for the frame? (where you got it, part #, cost, etc.).

That definitely looks like the right material to use!

That is correct, thank you Chad. I got them from 8020 as it is in fact the 'industrial erector set'

Not only is it incredibly nice-looking, super sturdy, extremely light, and very versatile, but the price is a damn good one too

Thank you guys... I appreciate it...

I have now decided I am actually going to use pin 13 on the QM2000's DB25 connector (the shutter) and have a great little shutter to fit it too... hoping this won't take much room, and won't change my plans much

I used 80/20 for my case too. As much I liked how easy it was to use I hate how heavy it is. I'm about to remake my case using a lot thinner aluminum.

    Default 8020 hardware

Daedal I've been using this stuff for years to build enclosures. If you need something in regards to hardware let me know. I have boxes of this stuff. It seems that every project i do i end up with left over components, go figure...I have amassed a large collection of 10 series bits and pieces. I'm not much on selling but i do like to trade.

I really know how that feels... this stuff is too cool to order 'just enough'

I ended up with extra pieces too, and am already considering what else I can make out of this stuff...

    So... PM sent
