    Hey J -

You're right - confirmed! - I would have bet 'YLS', http://www.lasersbyyls.com/laser_photo_gallery , since they did a killer job with the Who's VH1 special...they have nice Laserscope table-systems and usually go SP 171 WLs, which, a pair-of and a 20-position table could have easily done this good of a job...but I'd suspect that this was likey a case where a pitch requiring 480 3Ø and water for 2 x 16W WLs - vs - 110V for 6 x 10W boxes was nearly a 'no-contest'... *sigh* Ions are doomed.. My 'chips' are still down on OPSL, though... the idea of a 12+W,
    6-8 line 110V OPSL-WL is, well, lasersex...

And yeah, those Canadians - they kick some butt - the Co. Doug 'came from' is Production Design International - I guess they had a 'falling out' some years back, and then Doug comes out with this Co - the name - even the FONT used for his logo - nearly idendical, and then proceeds to consume nearly all the giant US gigs and Tours in the years to come...

One reason they do good work - IMHO - is they are from the 'old school' and take the TIME to set up mirrors and use BEAMS (ie TSO shows, etc) and do a good job of using multiple systems and fx - not just 'throwing down an x-y box' and 'now, where's my check' ...you gotta respect thier achievements in just a few short years... many-less (though Doug has been around for quite some years) than LN, etc, and yet, has eclipsed many of thier competitors, in-terms of 'big-name' work... Sheesh, I remember training Jason McEach, there on NY Regs, etc, and here he is, running a Superbowl gig... Punk...

PS - still waiting to hear on that Tour - will KIT - the video shoot went great - will announce, here, when available - should be pretty kickin...

    peace...

I couldn't stand it last night so I called Paul just before heading off to bed to ask him if he was the one behind those lasers. He laughed, but admitted that it wasn't him. Though he did have the equipment to do it. (Except he would have used CVL's and large frame Kr/Ar pairs instead.)

Evidently Laser Design Productions also did the lasers for The Who's last tour, so it makes sense that they'd do the Superbowl show as well. Judging by the videos I've seen so far this morning, they did a great job!

I gotta say though, the circular floor lighting around the stage was pretty damn cool in it's own right. But add in the lasers, the intelligent lighting, and the pyro, and you've got one hell of a show. Can't believe some folks were actually whining about it. (The young ones wanted Rihanna or Beyonce instead - fools!)

Beyonce is a BIG user of lasers, she likes the artistic ability compared to moving lights.

And where that excelled is that the lasers/lighting were designed in such a way it could be filmed.

I wonder how they convinced the powers that be to kill the stadium video lighting, that is rare these days. Although Bejing may have had some influence on that.

Massive congrats to the production crew and programming staff, job well done!

When the full color kicked in and they matched the color of the floods, that was simply breath taking.

this was an amazing production. looked well planned, well programmed, safe, really made an impression.

Its so good to see lasers making it back into the mainstream!

I would think that true color matching would only be possible with some extremely linear analog lasers and at least 24bit color resolution. What controllers out there provide 24-32bit resolution? Must be some nice stuff..

Metal halide lamps with dichroic filters. No problem, order a moving fixture dichro centered on 532. Glue it in the fixture dichro wheel. About 30-50$ a dichro.
Nice, cause it uses off the shelf parts and looks good.
