Just planning stage for now...I may actually build it for kicks and giggles. I was thinking of a PL based project....any other intrest? That way all info would be shared and problems freely discussed and solutions opened. This could also be done on a smaller/larger scale...keeping in mind the final outcome and fill factor at the PBS cube.
With High quality lenses and no telescope a beam of 6,6x6,6mm x 0,7mRad should be possible in ideal world.

But in the real world you most probbably would end up with a 8mm x 8mm beam...

In my opinion a 8x8 beam is too fat and you must use a telescope to shrink it to a decent beam of 4x4mm.

I think I can live with a multi-watt red with 4x4 beam and somewhat bad divergence

meh...no problem...this project is possible, anything is possible....on paper...do you recall the axicon thread? Where is that project (this project has the same problems...compounded by 2x)?

I have a 3 watt RGB design and a at least 12 diode combiner design (of any similar wavelengths)...on paper using fiber cables and it all will work on paper as well as the lab...but for this market the ROI is just not there.

may be this project will be different...i hope so.. build it!

Might even run that bieotch on a set of scanners all by itself.

I do remember the axicon thread... too bad it's been long gone and forgotten

Nonetheless... I just put the parts on order for this project

if arctos can combine 48 diodes into a usable beam im sure we can to.

No, It hasnt, they have been made.
    They need coated, thats it.
I ended up with 22K of medical debt and could not get the coatings done, and being a made in America type of guy, refused to send the prototypes off shore...

So there may be interested parties......here is the sibling of the red that Buffo has. It can be done, but not with conventional methods of thought. I have a pair of these{ GLC-2.0-2.0-780}and they are "the mutt's nutz". Http://www.cvimellesgriot.com/Produc...de-Lasers.aspx
Melles has built a fine product and rightfully proud of them. Now the theme was not to think it could be done...I feel certain it can be done....not as expensive as one may think. I would trade time in aligning for a home built laser over spending X dollars on pre-made on this thing. Here are a couple of pix of the 3/4 watt unit...pix in full daylight when it was here. It is at the shop being installed into another projector when I get a minute to tinker with it. BTW mccarrot....that is not the method I have figured out to gather beams together for this...their way will not function for this setup.
