    Hey Jon,
I don't have the mirrors in front of me, but if I remember correctly the HR mirror looks like a deep violet color if you look through it, and the OC mirror looks to be a bit of a lighter violet/blueish color.

I've dialed in the HR like you mentioned, I definitely saw the
hot spot moving with the mirror across the larger circle of light.

I'm going to toss in the Argon optics and clean everything really well tonight or tomorrow and see if I can get it dialed in.

What kind of laser did you say these mirrors came from again? I know you said coherent but I can't remember the model.

Also, I got the sloppy optic holders figured out. The little aluminum adapters have a lip at one end. These were facing away from the laser and touching the oring inside the optic holder. I flipped them around and they feel much better, and now the optic can't fall out if you take the holder out wrong.

That's what I wanna hear... You should be fine - I know they were from the 'same laser' (as a 'set') I just wanted to make sure when I was sorting those 6 pairs that day, and put these in that head, I didn't somehow goof...

Good. you should be very close on the HR-end... I would say you could try and see IF the OC-end is way-out, somehow, but like everyone's said, once you start testing at 25A or so, I think you should be fine... I'd suspect that before the OC-end being whacked... but it might be... let's see how you do @ higher A's first...

Sure. I wouldn't kill yourself over cleaning at this point - yeah - give the brewsters a wipe - it is certainly possible that after sitting all those years (unk. exactly how-many, but I'd bet 3-5, at least...) they've got enough of a 'film' on them that they could hinder lasing @ lower A-range... but what I mean, is don't stress over getting 'every last bit of microdust' off-them, for now... and I did clean the WL mirs before I put them in, so you should be pretty-good, there... Echoing Pat & Steve, it could possibly be those optics, if perhaps there was some 'wierd curvature' on the OC... Keen to hear how the Ar's do...

Likely a Coherent Purelight, but an 'older' model 'Spectrum' or 'straight Purelight', not a 'Star', etc, since those-on, had hard-sealed mirs, at least on the OC-end....

No luck. Current was 25A, field at medium, magnet is working. Tried Ar optics, WL optics, aligned each mirror indepenantly and tried tweaking from there... Nothing.

    How frustrating...

nah...its something else, im thinking a bit more current might help and there might be a film or something on the windows, and possibly wrong curvature, you can get it lasing without shooting it, he gets a retro reflection so there is no crap in the bore...hmmmm puzzeling....

Is the aperture set small or misaligned?

I'm 99% sure there's no apature installed. I'll go triple check, but I had the bellows and everything off and I'm pretty sure both stems were pointed straight at the mirrors.

One thing I noticed when I shot the bore is that the laser came out the other end on the very edge of the mirror.

Is it possible that the tube itself needs to be aligned in the cavity?

I mean, at 25A when I hit the sweet spot I should see a freakin lightning bolt shoot out of that tube. I would think that even if I were barely off on either mirror I would at least see a mW or two.

I think I just need to get this laser in the hands of someone who really knows these. If one mirror is already aligned I can get it lasing in like two minutes, but both mirrors is a new thing for me.

I almost want to completely misalign my argon 168 and align it from scratch, just to prove to myself that I'm not nuts.

Hey pat... You have access to some 3-phase down there? I think a road trip is in order... Haha. I have other goodies to bring you anyway.

ok try this. cut a circle out of a piece of paper about the size of the mirror holder (about the size of a nickel or quarter). Place a small hole (pin hole)in the center of this piece of paper and tape it to the mirror holder (so it is facing the tube) then move the tube (use those tools i hooked you up with ) so that the florescence is centered on this paper. do this on both ends (remove the paper) then try it again by getting a spot through the bore from the hr then install the oc and rock away at 25 amps it should flash.

Make sure the reflective coating of the mirror is facing tube (you would not believe how many people can not do that)

if you are figuring out which is an oc and hr...the OC will have an ar coating on the opposite side of the reflective coating.

Hey GG, I have a set of LEXEl 15 mm mirrors with your name on it..

If those coherent mirrors are star or I90, lets talk trade.. Innova Spectrum is probably too short for my needs.....

Got part numbers on those 12.5 mm optics...??
