Whoa, just a minute. Do you have any of the older "3D" laser shows from the 4 scan head projectors?!?!? Please tell me you do, I thought those shows were awesome, except LaserDrive.

I can build a projector to run them if you do!

You bring a 4 head show to selem, and I'll bring 4.5 watts of RGYB.

Default 2 Laser Projectors, 1 Laser FX

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0d9-aPLuOA

This is just a video description of my Laser FX revival to show my geeky friends at Photonlexicon.com.

2 RGB projectors; one has the beam split and bounced to parts from an old Laser FX device that has been hotglued to a speaker. If you know what a Laser FX is, was sold in Spencers in the late 80s early 90s, you may recognize the part. Otherwise it is a mirror attached to a speaker coil. It sounded like crap in the laser FX, no speaker cone, so I ripped it out and glued it to a real speaker. Now it sounds like the music.

The video is to show how the Laser FX looks when the lasers are blanked to the Winamp Laser AVS plugin or running a regular laser show. To me it is like an abstract version of the show being sent to the projector scanners.

    Enjoy!

...You bring 4.5 watts of respectable-speed RGYB to Selem...and I'll bring my checkbook.

From what I hear, Brian Bohan, et al, is soon to announce a 15W RRYGGBBB in the ~ size of a Lexel 95 head, all-in (...no external PSU..) and beam chars and modulation
are 171-quality... ...we'll see, but I am drooling to stick that in a dimple tube...

Yes, but that venue is one of the few places with 220/3 that can support my kind of RGYB. I have to rent a genny just to see my RYGB run, since I no longer work in a building with a half megawatt power feed.

I can't tell you how much I wish I did. One day I was tossing some trash in the dumpster at AVI and I saw all the planetarium show ADAT master tapes for the 4-color system in there. I called in to the art dept and said "Who threw this stuff out? get out here right now with a box" and we put it all back in.

Then when the fire came that burned the 80 acres next to the office, I grabbed them all put them into a big immovable box and managed to get it out on a truck and away from the building. I wanted to save them, as they would be irreplaceable.

Then AVI was going to move, and you should have seen the stuff that hit the dumpster. I barely did as I showed up moments before the truck came to take it away. You could have formed 3 companies out of the crap that got pitched out.

I thought the shows were safe, I was told that they were in a box labled "Old Show Tapes." The technology existed to rework the material into being able to be shown on the Omniscan or other ISP. I looked in the boxes and found old scratch tapes from the studio. useless scratch tapes.

The ADAT masters are gone, and with it an era of laser art that transformed the world. There is the remote possibility that ADAT-A-FACE encoded versions exist, which were basically 4 XYI + other data encoded in a video stream and recoded into 2 ADAT channels. But realistically, I consider it all lost. Which is why I will be keeping copies of all current shows, just for the sake of the art.

BTW, I've had some requests, and no, I am not distributing such content. Ask me again once they are gone for good.

Woah... wait a sec... laserdrive was AWESOME!!! I have a video of it on DVD somewhere! The only show I have left! noone gets to bitch about that. I guarantee I saw it more times than you!

I think Matt may have some 171s and 168s available. He hasn't looked to specifically deal with them but he might entertain unreasonable offers.
