I think that'll be more of a scanner tweak than a scanner tune. I expect a small adjustment on 1 pot will have that all sorted out.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?
I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
Thanks Norty,
That's what I was hoping too. I'll try it when I have a day off.
Ok guys, I'm total noob here as I have never messed with a scanner before.
I've included a couple of pictures and I'm trying to make sure I'm 100% messing with the
right things.
I've yet to get word back from the Laser Manufacturer and I don't want to screw anything up worse. Seems like these items I'm looking at have adjustment screws and there are 3 of them so I was thinking this might be the gain, LF and HF damping but as I said I don't really know what I'm looking at.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Mike
Nevermind guys just got the data document emailed to me, the pots are in the top row of adjustment screws.
Will post outcome once I've adjusted them.
Thanks again!
My advice to you is to make sure you read Adam's guide through at least twice, and when you are adjusting, be ready to pull the power if the scanners suddenly destabilize.

Few things...
1) some might not agree with this but that double line is VERY minimal in your pics. If your scanners are legitimately tuned to 30K (but are 40K scanners) and you were projecting that at ~40K, the double lines will be evident. However, those lines are very minimal. if it were me, i would not worry about it. I dont think you will see ANY evidence of any scanner issues with any of your scanning just from that small amount of scanner speed difference. i have seen scanners 100X worse that still scan everything perfectly.
2) someone above said a "scanner tweak" rather than scanner tuning. I 100% agree. especially if you have never tuned a set of scanners before. I would rather see what your test pattern looks like at 30K and NOT the LM test pattern. If you have never tuned a set of scanners and you begin with this set that looks pretty damn good already (IMO) you may end up screwing them up and making it worse than what it is now.
If you really want to start turning some pots, i would just "tweak" probably the gain a little on 1 of them to match speeds. but again, if it were me, i would just leave em alone.

Just to clarify, I agree a minimal tweak is needed but wanted to provide Adam's tutorial for the theory behind your issue, which is minimal, so you understand what you are tweaking. Just to be sure you can unprotect your blanking and paint the 12/30k test pattern all white to see how close you are to being tuned to your desired speed.
I also agree with Marc, the "problem" you see will probably not be visible in anything but the test patterns. If you search around the forum you will see members with tuning problems far worse than what you are seeing.![]()
Thanks for all the replies guys.
I had asked that question if it was even really worth worrying about and never really got a clear response.
My graphics look fine so I might just leave it alone or at the very most maybe adjust the gain on one to tweak it.
I wasn't going to attempt a full tune like in the tutorial. Once again thanks for all the input.
Mike
Ok, I was just going to leave well enough alone but I'm just to much a perfectionist.
It really bothers me when I know something is off, therefore I thought this can't be that tough. I build computers all the time so I'm no stranger to electronics. This is just a new field in the world of electronics for me.
AS you can see in the pictures below a small tweak made a really noticeable improvement in my lines being aligned.
I noticed that my images are crisper as well, there was some overlapping seemed like and now things look a little sharper.
Thanks for all the help and advice,
Mike

excellent result!! i' m inspired now !!! i have a set of really cheap galvos, i think i will take to them with a screwdriver. my only problem (according to buffo's manual) is the time. patience and calm i need to have in order to attempt it![]()
