New LSX Update posted, version 20130302.

Lots of improvements, fixes, and cool stuff. Thanks a lot to users great feedback in helping to advance the state-of-the art.

It's now possible to create a full interactive game inside LSX, not to mention the power that gives you for show creation.

    enjoy!

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Mine too! I wish I got this type of support from other software packages.

The updated Showplayer looks and works just like I requested. Thank you, Dr. Lava!

All the talk about this software has sold me. I ordered LSX Basic and an Etherdream on Sunday and can't wait to get started with it. I worked with Pangolin LD in the past using QM2000 boards, but that is a bit spendy for personal use. Regardless, LSX looks to be more capable software with some really nice features. Thanks for your efforts Dr. Lava and I can't wait to get started!

i think you'll like LSX. it is hugely power, flexible, and quite fun to use. there are a number of us LSX users in the PL chat room. feel free to come in for questions, lattes, or just to hang out.

    welcome to the club...

Default An interesting tool to have in your arsenal - albeit on that is hard to use...

As a current Pangolin LD-2000 owner, I have to say that there are still some things that LSX can do that Showtime can't.

I think LSX can be useful even to people who already run Pangolin. If you're running Showtime or Beyond, you're obviously not going to want to change timeline editors, but LSX can still be a powerful tool for creating original content that can then be imported into Showtime, or Beyond, or whatever other laser show software you prefer to use.

The real problem with LSX is that to unlock the most powerful features, you need to be well-versed in either math (basic algebra and trigonometry) or procedural programming. And even if you are pretty swift when it comes to these subjects, the learning curve is still very steep. But if you can get over that obstacle and learn how to use the expression editor to it's fullest, there is almost no limit to what you can create.

(Disclaimer: I have not managed to beat LSX's learning curve - at least not yet. If you want to learn more about LSX, talk to Swamidog...)

Hi Adam, thank you for your thoughts. I haven't heard from you in a very long time.

Adam, I've heard you say this before, but I have to disagree with your suggestion that having a feature available to users that they don't have to use is a 'real problem'. You can make excellent shows without ever touching expressions. Without touching expressions, you still have more power than any other laser package out there at this price. Most of the included shows do not use complicated expressions at all, including the show in the demo.

There are other laser show companies out there that would like potential customers to think that having this awesome feature available is a 'real problem' but in reality, based on user feedback, it's not. They grow into it if they want to, otherwise, they still make great shows without being well versed in math.

In fact, users who just play shows that other people make benefit from this awesome feature without exercising a single brain cell.

What show creation in LSX does require is basic learning of how to use the timeline, effects, frame editor, and the way the effects are applied. But this is the case with any show software. Learning this requires the desire to learn it and nothing more advanced than that. If one wants to learn this, one can and will. If one then wants to step their toe into expressions, there's the PL chat room with 3 experts ready to help. But, I want to stress this, having this feature available is not a 'real problem' and zero complaints have been logged from users indicating they wish the feature wasn't there.

    to reiterate drlava's point..

expressions are extremely powerful. it's a way to get under the hood and closer to the code, but they are just another tool in the LSX palette.

this abstract was created with the lissajous editor, color modulation, rotation effects, and cloning... no math, no programming.
