I wonder who makes those? It says "proffesional" .. relly ?? When is Pangolin going to release their drivers? Why are drivers so scarce these days? Why am I asking all these questions ?????

Not sure who makes them, but I ordered 20 of the Lasertack drivers, not the one with the TEC, and they came needing to have the resistor changed to a 5Watt .15OHM to get it to work correctly. If there isn't a turnkey solution soon, I'm gonna just make my own. ARGH

They might be good drivers. Who knows .. ? Yeh it would be nice to have a reliable source . I saw on another thread that badpip now has a bad reputation or something's going on ..

    @slicklasers
Did the Lasertack driver come with instructions?

Dont seem to be of a lot of use if you cant set threshold ,and only set max drive current
If you can work out the correct resistor needed
I wish some one like dave or dtr would come up with somthing
There is a big gap in the market that needs filling

When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

It was supposed to come with directions, but I guess they forgot to pack it with the 20 drivers I got. So when I asked for instructions, they sent written instructions with no guide to tell me which pins went to power or modulation, and it didn't explain what POT did what. Also, he said he told me that they needed to be modified to use, but I went through all of our emails and PL messages and no where in there did it say a single thing about having to change out anything. I'm sure that he meant to tell me, but he didn't, which made me mad that he allowed me to purchase 20 of the drivers without even mentioning that they needed modification to work with diodes over 500mW. Luckily my local electronics shop, Vetco, had 30 of the 5W .15ohm resistors in stock, or I would really have been up Sh*t creek. Here are the directions he sent me.

    2A Laser Diode Driver LT‐LDD‐2000‐A

    Setup
    1) Set the potentiometers to the lowest value as possible by turning the potentiometer
screws at least 25 times clockwise.

    2) Connect the laser diode to the driver.

    3) Connect the driver to the power supply and the modulation input to the modulation source.

    4) Set the modulation voltage to 0,3V.

    5) Turn the Threshold‐Current (BIAS) potentiometer counterclockwise until the laser diode starts to lase and then stop turning.

    6) Set the modulation voltage to 5V.

    7) Turn the Maximum‐Operating‐Current (GAIN) potentiometer counterclockwise to set the
    maximum current.

    8) Set the modulation voltage to 0,3V and check the output power. If it is higher now as
set in Step 5, turn the Threshold‐Current potentiometer clockwise to decrease the
power. Then check the power at the highest level by setting the modulation voltage
to 5V. Now you may need to turn the Maximum‐Operating‐Current potentiometer
counterclockwise to get the same output power as set in Step 7.

    Important!

The laser diode current can be measured by connecting a voltmeter to the Current‐Test‐Point and the GND (minus). The readings need to be multiplied by 2 to get correct readings in ampere.

Example: The voltmeter shows 0,4V (400mV). Multiply that by 2 and you´ll get the laser
    diode current (0,4*2=0,8A ~ 800mA).
For laser diode current of >300mA the Driver IC (black part
with three pins at the bottom of the driver pcb) needs to be mounted on a heatsink.
Power supply voltage needs to be 2V higher than the laser diode working voltage.
The modulation input is activated by supplying of >0,2V. Below this voltage the driver will
not provide any output -> Stand-by-beam-suppression.

    Model LT‐LDD‐2000‐A
    Input Voltage (VDC) 5‐12
    Max. Output Current (mA) 2000
    Modulation (VDC / kHz) 0‐5 / >200
    Soft‐Start (Delay in sec.) 3
    Size (mm) 30x50
    Conformity RoHS

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
