    Default Found this on Hackaday = ILDAWaveX16

    ILDAWaveX16 Link: StanleyProjects https://stanleyprojects.com/projects/ildawavex16

    Quoting the project site:

    ILDAWaveX16 is an open-source, high-resolution, wireless laser DAC with SD-card playback, network control, and ILDA output.
    Traditional laser DACs are often expensive, proprietary, or limited in flexibility, especially for those who want to experiment with laser systems, build custom projectors, or interface with low-cost driver kits.
    The goal of this project is to create the "Arduino of laser DACs" - a flexible, hackable platform for makers and enthusiasts that can serve as a foundation for any DIY laser project, capable of real show control, yet simple enough for beginners and hobbyists to learn from.

    I've watched this project on YT, from X/Y stepper motors to this point. Very impressive progress from ground level up, with lots of potential, admittedly. But the PCB is very similar to Hankloydright's ILD32 file player and most likely a direct copy of atomic14's open source ESP32 ILD laser projector project, which is mentioned within this enthusiast's video..

    Umm, don't mean to rain on this thread, bu~ut... How can I resist?
    😎
    Over the past 6 years, I've also been developing an Arduino compatible, MIDI controllable, Teensy T4 Laser Synth, which currently includes:
    * current firmware architecture:
    - 6 X quadrature oscillators,
    - 2 X image AM waveforms,
    - 2 X individual QOSC AM oscillators,
    - 2 X 3D variable rate ILD players w/variable XYZ rotation,
    - 2 X RGB color/intensity modulators
    * firmware updates via Arduino's IDE or PlatformIO via uUSB
    * MIDI communication via USB
    * standard ILDA outputs via DB25,
    * lumia projector outputs via DB9 w/differential X/Y + I2C bus
    * 3D ILD file playback, via uSD
    * variable frequency 3D ILD frame stepping to mix with waveforms X 2 frame players
    * X/Y/Z rotation of 3D ILD image
    * 6 ADC input channels, either 1/8" stereo line level or 1/4" stereo 0-5V control voltages
    * recordable show content via Reaper's DAW + MIDI control surfaces
    * multiple Laser Synths/images/projectors can be independently controlled via separately downmixed timeline tracks

    Year old noodling video test, unrehearsed, played real time on APC40 mkii, w/o DAW
    I'm currently finalizing the 3rd (hopefully flawless) final SMD PCB, powered via 12VDC brick and plan to officially launch the project by New Year's day on a new thread, with demo and tutorial videos, followed by my own YT show content.
    Gerbers, firmware, & docs will be shared, open source on github.
    Been keeping this project mostly quiet, except for a few fleeting teasers on this forum, until it is fully baked. But, with this thread, I can't delay any longer.
    IMO, a true laserist should never expose an unfinished work.
    AFAIK, this is a unique application of audio technology to produce primarily abstract visual music, without excluding obligatory industry standard ILDA file content. But, it goes beyond by enabling 3D ILDA content to be mixed with synth waveforms.
    I like to think of it as a poor boy's Radiator, with optional MIDI CS (not included), instead of a custom (professional EE) designed control desk. Reaper's DAW, instead of LSX (PicEdit's frame editor currently being used for creating ILD frames), no ILDA DAC required.
    I'm also hoping to provide a minimal entry point price tag for young enthusiasts, without sacrificing professional laserists' performance standards.
    Fully assembled, I'm guesstimating a DIY cost per T4 Laser Synth:
    PCB,
    Teensy T4.1,
    DB connectors,
    5020 cooling fans,
    aluminum case,
    12V 3amp power brick
    (ILDA DAC included on board)
    Total ~$200
    Reaper's full permanent license $62
    Optional:
    MIDI DAW Control Surface/mixer ~$100 - ~$600

    ( Behringer's X-Touch Universal DAW controller @ $410
    + Akai Professional APC Mini MK2 @ $100 recommended)
    Just add ILDA projector (+ optional RGB lumia projector)
    Ya gets whatchca pays fer.

    Would a bird's mating song be more alluring if composed by human intellect? 🤔

    ==================================================
    T4 Laser Synth, Reaper DAW, Behringer X-Touch
    3W PD3000-RGB Projector, w/DT-40
    3W W3000-RGB custom built Projector, w/PT-40
    ... so far.
